24 Masters of Modern Patterns Design

January 08, 2009 from abduzeedo's blog

I'm a fan of patterns and textures applied to graphic design, and it's a trend that is becoming quite popular in web design. The coolest thing is that patterns give a very unique style to your design, sometimes sort of crazy, sometimes very elegant and classic. Because of that, as I was looking for refrences for a design project I'm working on, Ie've selected 24 super talented pattern designers with incredible examples.

Case Study: NINE by Perttu Murto
The wallpaper of the week is an artwork created by Perttu Murto for the UUtheory NINE contest. We really like the design and asked Perttu if he could send us a case study showing the process of creating it. He was super kind and send us a 10 step making of in which we can understand a bit more about how it was done.

The wallpaper of this week is a really nice 3D image created by Ali Rahmoun, also known as Saltshaker911 at DeviantArt. The 3D concept was done while he was playing in 3DSMax. As we always encourage you to play with the tools, nothing better than feature some images from those who do that :)

Book Suggestion: Visual Complexity - Mapping Patterns of Information
The book of this week is a book I just got from a friend. It was in my wish list for a long time. The book is called Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information and as the reviews says, it's about our ability to generate information now far exceeds our capacity to understand it.
