Absolutely Beautiful Comcast Commercial

March 12, 2009

Yesterday, during a little internet surf, I ran into some commercials that really got my attention. Comcast has been featuring some sweet commercials that look a lot like pixel art and/or The Sims, which is totally cool.

Also, it has a lot of that indie film feeling, with the singing and all of it. And I really love this graphic look they gave it. Again, it looks a lot like those huge pixel art showing whole cities and funny situations. Anyways, these are absolutely beautiful and I hope you all like it. Cheers!

Good stuff :D

I agree- very fresh + entertaining commercials, looks like the girl from JUNO. However, having given Kudos to the ad, the company itself; COMCAST is very poor. (Bills go up, while service goes down).

too bad their service isn't as good as their commercials

Nice! though it doesn't really say what comcast is... what is it?

Casber03/12/2009

Really nice. The mixture of cartoon and real stuff, that's really a nice idea.

Sorry, but I really disliked this commercial. It's sad to see companies pander to a certain demographic by doing commercials in a style that is seen as cool, hip or trendy. All because some exec saw something their teenager was doing or liked and thought it would make good marketing to older people too. To me this looks like comcast is trying to appeal to the 13-16 age group. But why? Kids that young don't pay the bills. And if they do, I'll guarantee comcast service is not on their priority list. This one goes on my list right next to that bank / financial commercial done in the A Scanner Darkly style.

If I was the freecreditreport.com people I would be pissed! Song is a total rip off.

What a waste they should have spent the money on upgrading internet service in my area...

Wow... While searching for the creators of the spot i found this:
http://www.comcasttown.com/

It's a flash website for Comcast. Lovely design and it has got 3 more of those commercials!

These are always on TV. I can't stand them singing, i want to tear my ears out when it starts playing. But it is pretty interesting designing.

I don't think their services are good. Just hear how the they sing the song. Sounds very sad and disappointed :p but great graphic indeed.

@b-dub996 The commercials styled like A Scanner Darkly have been done since before A Scanner Darkly came out; it would be more accurate to say that they are styled like Waking Life, the first movie Richard Linklater did in the rotoscoped style. However, this is a very common rotoscope style, achieved by using the same basic techniques in Rotoshop, the program used (I believe) to make both of them.

Also, I have no idea why you're questioning their approach of advertising toward children. Kids may not pay the bills, but they have an IMMENSE amount of power over what their parents buy. Directly marketing things to parents and adults is very hard to do; we're generally very jaded people, especially when it comes to advertising, and we often simply tune it out. Kids, however, have the ability to get incredibly excited about advertisements and bug their parents until they finally give in.

There are plenty of things that advertise themselves to children that aren't necessarily children's products (cereal is a big one; a good amount of adults eat cereal, but most of the cereal advertisements out there are aimed at children) because it has proven to be a VERY EFFECTIVE method of marketing.

It seems like thier trying to appeal to 3-4 year olds Why? so mom & dad won't switch servers? although the tunes are quite cute & catchy.
