Portland-based artist, Ryan Jacob Smith explores themes of environmental consciousness and the human body in his acrylic paintings. He is a graduate, with honors, from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California (2001), and incorporates much of his Orange County upbringing in the street culture style of his work. I especially enjoy his map pieces, in particular "Somebody In Oregon Loves Me", and the originality and creativity behind the setup of his exhibitions.

His innovative pieces bear the marks of their own history; fragments, mistakes and unconscious marks are incorporated into the composition such that each work represents an honest account of its own development.

Head on over to his site for more and let me know what you think via twitter.
