In 1995, Jamie Darnell, Doug Stockman, Dan Maginn, Chris Kelsey and David Murrell began to take classes in welding and opened their store of metal objects. The following year they formed the El dorado inc., Located on a property where are divided between the metal store and the architecture office.

In 1998, Kelsey and Murrell came out and David Dowell joined the architectural firm and manufacturing. In 2001, El dorado inc only became an architectural firm. With the focus set to work, office earned commissions and awards, earning a reputation in Kansas City, one of the goals of the group of architects.
