Architect Day: Gert Wingardh

Swedish architect born in 1951, Gert Wingardh also has work in the United States and Germany, has received several awards in more than 35 years of career. From residential projects to large public buildings, has a portfolio of qualified architecture.

Gert Wingardh was born in 1951 in Skövde in Sweden. He studied economics and art history, and decided to become an architect after a visit to the Pantheon in Rome. Gert received his diploma in architecture from Chalmers University of Technology in 1975. After graduation he worked a little bit as interior architect and in 1977 formed his own office.

Gert Wingårdh had its first major recognition in 1988 with the project Öijared Executive Country Club, for which he won the Kasper Salin Prize. It currently has projects also outside Sweden, such as Berlin and Washington and has accumulated prize and publication of his works. The office is based in Gothenburg and offices in the cities of Stockholm and Malmo.
