Last week I was waiting hours in airports, as usual, I was wandering and checking out banners and signs when I found a beautiful Sony ad of a cel phone called Xperia. The thing that really caught my attention was the wallpaper of the phone. It was a colorful light bean crossing the screen . I really like the effect and thought to myself, that is a good idea for a tutorial.
So in this tutorial I will show you how to create a super easy but at the same time beautiful light effect.
The wallpaper of this week is a design created by Samuel Larsson, a graphic designer based in Stockholm. The image is a super cool illustration with that cartoon feel, I've been using it for a few days already and I love it.

Vanila Barcelona or Vanila BCN is the design studio of two very talented graphic designers from Spain, Carlos Jimenez and Roger Gual. They met when they were studying graphic design at Elisava Design School and they have been working together since them. From his clients we can tell that it's been working pretty well so far, especially for the type of work with beautiful typographies with that hand drawing feel.
As usual we highly recommend that you check out Vanila BCN's website at http://www.vanilabcn.com/. You will not regret!

Almost 2 years ago, I wrote a Photoshop tutorial that became quite popular. Its effect was a sort of explosion of mental waves, like a powerful superhero attack. Because of the tutorial’s popularity, I decided to recreate that effect in Pixelmator.
The wallpaper of this week is a design I designed inspired by a skateboard deck design from the Element. It's a vector pattern that creates a really nice optical illusion. I, also, prepared 2 versions a dark one for those like me who like dark wallpapers and the original version that is more bright, but with a nice retro feel.
Check out the tutorial: Rad Pattern in Illustrator that Makes you Dizzy .
