Book Cover Design Inspiration from The Book Cover Archive

February 28, 2009 from abduzeedo's blog

I'm totally addicted to collecting images that inspire me and I think that it will be important in the future, for a project or something. I believe that's a designer's habit, always saving everything that's visual appealing. Then when I visited The Book Cover Archive website I was really happy because I had found the perfect place to get inspiration for book covers.

Designing a book cover can be very challenging, trying to summarize the content of a book in only one page is not an easy task. That's why The Book Archive website is so useful. They have a huge collection of covers and it's definitely worth bookmarking it.

The Book Cover Archive is edited and maintained by Ben Pieratt of General Projects and Eric Jacobsen of Whisky Van Gogh Go.

Medieval Metal Text Effect in Photoshop
Last week I saw the movie Immortals and before the movie I was walking around at the movie theater checking some poster. I saw the Immortals poster, as well as some old Harry Potter and all have the same kind of metal text effect. With that in mind I decided to come up with a Medieval Metal Text Effect using Photoshop. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create a nice metal text effect using just layer styles. It's a simple tutorial and won't take you more than 30 minutes to go through the step by step.

Wallpaper of the Week #118 by Abduzeedo
The wallpaper of this week is an image I created for a tutorial for Digital Arts Magazine. The idea of this image was to play with patterns and displace, so the design combines a 3D cubes pattern with an image of a girl totally deconstructed using the perspective of the cubes. The tutorial will be available soon, but stay tuned because I will post the PSD file so you guys can take a look at how I did it.

Book Suggestion: New Skateboard Graphics
Inspiration is everywhere, I believe everyone knows that but each one of us has some preferences or things that inspire more than others, in my case it's skateboard graphics. That's why the book suggestion of this week is about Skateboard Graphics. It's called New Skateboard Graphics. If you remember we ran a giveaway of this book 3 years ago, but I was checking it out again and had to add to our book suggestion list.
