Fantastic Illustrations by Benjamin Güdel

November 03, 2009 from Daniela's blog

Benjamin Güdel is a very talented illustrator and comic artist based in Zurich. He has his roots in the underground comic world but he says he became an illustrator in order to earn a living. His dynamic and expressive drawings, which are mostly begun by hand and then finished digitally, can be seen in various Swiss publications such as Weltwoche, Soda and DU as well as gracing posters for the Berlin avant-garde theatre, the Schaubühne." http://www.hotelfox.dk/

"Benjamin Güdel is a freelance illustrator and comic artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. His bump and grind style is reminiscent of pulp fiction covers and cult film posters of the 1950s with a distinct contemporary, politically incorrect edge. Güdel's striking drawings are collected in Blood, Sweat and Tears, a rollicking romp through pop art portraits, pin-ups, pirates and more. Featuring commercial illustrations for clients including Berlin's renowned Schaubuhne Theater, Burton and innovative Swiss magazines "Du" and "soDA" as well as personal projects, this book is an entertaining whirlwind ride through Güdel's work." http://www.gestalten.com

In this tutorial I will show you how I created the Abduzeedo's footer. Some of the techniques I used here I took from other tutorials and also from another tutorial I wrote some time ago for PSDtuts Mix Cool Retro Curves Into Your Photographs. Besides, the design is inspired by the amazing work of James White, so I highly recommend you to check his work out.

The wallpaper of this week is an image created by Vlad Axinte, a self-taught designer from Romania. The image is called "Coordinates of Chaos" and it was inspired by street art and grafitti. I tried to take the street art into a digital environment using my Wacom Bamboo Pen and Adobe Photoshop CS5 For more information visit Vlad Axinte's Web site at http://www.behance.net/lexington

Book Suggestion: New Skateboard Graphics
Book Suggestion: New Skateboard Graphics
Inspiration is everywhere, I believe everyone knows that but each one of us has some preferences or things that inspire more than others, in my case it's skateboard graphics. That's why the book suggestion of this week is about Skateboard Graphics. It's called New Skateboard Graphics. If you remember we ran a giveaway of this book 3 years ago, but I was checking it out again and had to add to our book suggestion list.
