Great Abstract Illustrations by Mu!

August 04, 2009 from abduzeedo's blog

Abstract illustration is something that always intrigued me, I always wonder how they come up with the ideas and also, how they make the ideas come true. Now it seems even more complicated if you go straight to the computer. Sebastián Murra Ramirez is a graphic and motion designer from Colombia, but based in Barcelona, has a very inspiring set of abstract illustrations.

I’m a graphic & motion designer from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia based in Barcelona (Catalonia), Spain. I believe the power of color and shape can build a better tomorrow for all of us through the ideas these two elements can communicate.

I use abstraction and mainly shapeless objects that combined together form an integrity that speaks of passion, love, aggressiveness, joy, power, justice, injustice, etc., depending on the case. For me each illustration has its meaning but everyone can have his own interpretation. Eventually through abstraction the illustration becomes yours because of the input you make out of it.

Playing with Vectors in Pixelmator
One of the new features of Pixelmator 2 is the vector tools. You can create primitve shapes like rectangles, triangles, ellipses and edit them like in Illustrator or using paths in Photoshop. I decided to give it a try and create a poster using some impossible structures like Escher. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create a poster using the vector tool in Pixelmator mixed with some textures and basic painting tools. The whole process won't take you more than 45 minutes and I am sure you will like the outcome.
