A Modern Take on Art Deco Typography for Wired UK

Ad

Sawdust, the creative partnership of Jonathan Quainton and Rob Gonzalez, shared a super cool typography project they created for Wired UK. It's a display font that has a modern look but also feels like a classic Art Deco font. It's a good blend of past and future. I specially like the flow of some of the characters like Y, L, O and T. It's also refreshing to see projects like this, especially for me that. I spend most of my time focusing on accessibility, legibility, readability and I feel that graphic design, especially editorial design still has an edge in terms of style. There's more freedom, you can see by the pictures below. Crazy contrast on font sizes, orientation and layout. Hopefully we will see the web and mobile design evolve to more experimental ideas too.
