Product Design Trends 2016

The great lads from Invision has been taking the industry today by sharing their first  Product Design Trends Report where they collected insights from over 1,650 creatives worldwide. The respondants provided their thoughts about their education, career path, roles, compensation ranges, tool preferences, income variables, purchasing habits and more. It's really an interesting document to dive into and we just can't help to be amazed by all the numbers. If you're part of our design industry, you really should give it a look. Design plays a leading role at 38 percent of the world's largest organizations. At startups, it's even higher with 65 percent leading with design. 87 percent of designers prototype during their design process to visualize, communicate their ideas, and explore solutions, with 76 percent using rapid prototyping tools. Only 2 in 5 designers are involved in code development. Some Stats Design's influence in business is growing. This report will help business leaders make more educated decisions about which design tools and specialities they should cultivate at their organizations in order to remain competitive," said Clark Valberg, InVision CEO. "We hope to help designers and their larger teams better understand their position, their market share, and their competition. Introducing Library from Invision

Introducing Library from Invision

This week, our friends over at Invision have announced that former Adobe Product Manager on the Adobe Experience Design Product (XD) is joining their team, introducing Sarah Hunt. Today, they are announcing their latest feature and it's  Library. What is it? It's going to allow designers to store files in the cloud where updates can happen in real-time. We believe that a deep understanding of collaboration drives the future of screen design. • With Library, create a single source of truth for your project’s design. That truth is cloud-connected, so changes you make automatically apply to your whole team’s design files. It’s cloud-connected design assets for your entire team. • Change an icon color and apply it to everyone’s design files. Tweak a logo and do the same. Enjoy design consistency at its best—and never use the wrong assets again. • Plus, a previous Craft plugin, Styles, is now bundled within Library. Using the new Document tab, you can generate those same stunning style guides with a single click. Elevating Design Through Education

Elevating Design Through Education

Former Design Lead at Mailchimp  Aarron Walter just joined the reigns of Invision as their VP of Design Education. What does that mean? According to Aarron, joining Invision will fulfill his passion for design by helping companies to put design best practices at the center of their strategy. As a background, Aarron is also a speaker and author of the book:   Designing from Emotion from A book apart. Over the past couple of years, InVision influenced MailChimp’s design practice, helping us work through ideas more quickly and at higher fidelity so we could be more certain of our decisions before developing. It’s become the heart of design in so many other companies, too, and the place where big decisions are made.   • Our commitment to hiring top talent who will work closely with the creative community and our nearly two million customers to extoll how to build better design-driven products. • InVision's investment in design education worldwide, as more organizations and leaders seek to learn best practices to elevate their products and services. • Our strides to educate and empower young designers of the future. We currently work with over 1,000 teachers at more than 500 colleges and universities worldwide to give students and faculty free InVision access to introduce them to next generation tools they’ll use throughout their careers. Future of Prototyping Live in Sketch

Future of Prototyping Live in Sketch

Just a little while (past week), we've announced Craft-Styles by Invision LABS and today Invision announced that they acquired Silver Flows to bring prototyping live in Sketch. This is the future right here, both a passionate user of Sketch and Invision, allowing designers to prototype and see their designs live (real-time mirroring) on your devices for a better user experience. As we know that it's not about being pixel-pushing-perfect but giving the best practical contact for your users. The Silver Flows team joining InVision is yet another giant leap toward our vision of building the product design and collaboration platform of the future. A vision shared by the nearly 2 million users already on the InVision platform today. Silver Flows helps designers to define all of the logic and transitions required to create prototypes directly within Sketch, a first for the design industry. By enabling UX designers to design and build prototypes in the same space, they can more quickly test and validate the broader user experience their apps provide. Together, InVision and Silver Flows are building a creative cloud within Sketch that provides an unparalleled degree of continuity for designers and their teams. Introducing Craft Styles by Invision LABS

Introducing Craft Styles by Invision LABS

Invision LABS has just released Craft-Styles, a tool (only available on Sketch) where you can create stunning, comprehensive style guide with just a few clicks. Craft has been a game changer in their recent release to a sustain increase of productivity among us designers. This is what I really do enjoy about this community, creating better tools together. We have seen significant adoption among the design community, with 86% on Sketch and 14% on Photoshop. • Styles, which exists within the new Craft Manager, creates a new page within Sketch with the project's color palette, fonts, and text styles. • Users can also include a host of custom elements, like buttons, symbols, and more. • The Styles-generated guide syncs to projects, so when designers make a change to the guide, the change applies across the entire project. • Styles is exclusively for Sketch users. Craft is 100% free. When users update or download Craft, they will get Styles and the new Craft Manager too.   Watch it in Action Download Now Download For more information: http://www.invisionapp.com/craft#styles
