Poppy Paperie: a Website Filled with Beautiful Paper Craft

June 21, 2010 from GisMullr's blog

Last week I found this really neat website called Poppy Paperie and as soon as I start browsing around the beautiful paper craft Lisa Johnson showcased over there, I decided to make this post. The website is filled with really inspiring, delicate and beautiful cards showing that physical cards are yet very touching and inspiring, even with all the digital options we have these days.

"I'm a wife, mother, concept artist, product designer, writer and silly girl! I love stamping and paper crafting as well as sharing tidbits of my life. To me, creativity is a cumulative experience where life combined with imagination produces Art". Lisa Johnson

As geek as I can be, I still love physical cards... I think they are beautiful, romantic and nostalgic, so when I find beautiful, delicate and creative cards as these ones, I feel like I have the duty of sharing it with you guys. I admire artists that have the talent, patience and ability to create this kind of work. And I really wish that this kind of work will resist over the online world. :)

Make sure to take some time to visit Poppy Paperie to read more about Lisa's work.

Back in 2007 I was in a design event with Fabiano Meneghetti, my business partner at Zee, and Thiago Bizarro, an old friend of mine, and we started talking about organizing a design event. During this conversation we came up with this crazy idea of creating a battle of designers in which they would compete against one another in a sort of fight style. It was heavily inspired by the Bloodsport movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The wallpaper of this week is an homage we pay to the man who showed the world that technology is nothing without a good experience for the user. That design has to be at the top of the hierarchy when it comes to good products and of course that we can and should follow our dreams. Thank you Steve. Book Suggestion: Visual Complexity - Mapping Patterns of Information
The book of this week is a book I just got from a friend. It was in my wish list for a long time. The book is called Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information and as the reviews says, it's about our ability to generate information now far exceeds our capacity to understand it.
