Surreal Illustrations by Máximo Tuja

December 24, 2009 from amanda's blog

Máximo's portfolio contains a little bit of everything. He's done t-shirts, skateboard decks, magazine spreads, album covers, illustrations, collages, and a lot more. Máximo has a very distinct style in which he attempts to create an imaginary world from torn pieces of the real world, as he briefly explains in his about page:

My name is Máximo Tuja, some people know me as max-o-matic
Born 1975. getting older. I live in Barcelona. I work as graphic designer. I illustrate pasting images. I try to create an imaginary world from torn pieces of the real world. Pataphysicien per conviction.

Check out Máximo's other projects here, and let me know what you think via twitter or facebook.

Beijing 2008 Logo Light Painting in Photoshop
This is not new, I have already shown this effect a few times but as last week I created a wallpaper for CSNGLOBAL, using an image of a guy painting their logo and I have received some emails asking me to write a tutorial, I decided to do that. In this tutorial I will show you how to create a nice light painiting effect for texts and logos. You will be able to design nice wallpapers and images using this technique and even different light effects. Also, celebrating the Olympic Games we will use its logo for the example.

Book Suggestion: One Click: Jeff Bezos and the Rise of Amazon.com
The book suggestion of the week is about Jeff Bezos and the history of Amazon.com. One Click: Jeff Bezos and the Rise of Amazon.com is a really good book, very inspiring and motivating especially about believing on what you are doing and focus on the long term when doing things.
