Clever Negative Space Animals

Clever Negative Space Animals

Negative space designs are very hard to create, but designer George Bokhua is a specialist in negative space. He designed this minimalist serie of animals beautifully done with negative space. Enjoy! For more from George Bokhua visit his Behance and Dribbble. Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, and not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space is occasionally used to artistic effect as the "real" subject of an image. The use of negative space is a key element of artistic composition. Wikipedia For more from George Bokhua visit his Behance and Dribbble.

We love little projects, and even more when the subject is a cute dog like Maddie. She's a very obedient coonhound that will pose for any picture and stand cool. Indeed, what a cool dog! Also, Maddie is somewhat famous around the internet with the picture we used as the featured image of the post. It's a great possibility that you may have already seen her. The project consists in photographs of Maddie traveling around all 50 American states during 365 days. You may even buy prints, which is pretty awesome. Logo Design: Buffalos and Bisons

Logo Design: Buffalos and Bisons

We keep going through our weekly journey checking out great logos! We're thinking ahead and we want to find new topics, good ones, to share with you guys. Last week we had an awesome post featuring logos with chairs, and today we have here some great logos with buffalos and bisons! Although you mind think they're different animals, you'll get surprised on how much people get these two mixed: "Because bison in America resembled the buffalo of the old world, explorers also called them buffalo. Actually, the word buffalo is believed to have been used by English settlers. This term was said to have been a modification of the name 'les boeufs' which French explorers gave to oxen or cattle. The term evolved, and soon many variations such as 'buffler,' 'boeffle,' and 'buffilo' were used. Although the terms buffalo and bison are now used synonymously, the scientific name for the 'buffalo' found in America is bison. Bison = Artiodactyla Ruminata Bovidae. The 'true' buffalo are often referred to as those in Asia or Africa. They belong to a different family than the American bison. The physical differences are more evident. These buffalo do not have a large hump and have a more slick appearance. African Buffalo = Syncerus caffer caffer and Syncerus caffer nanus. Asian Buffalo = Bubalus bubalis." - Fun Trivia Every week we search through our favorite galleries: Logopond and Dribbble. Both are a great communities for designers everywhere. A creative mind will light up anyone's day, right? Of course! Even more when you're talking about amazingly cute animals in suits. It may sound funny, but from the feature image you get the picture already. This project by Spanish designer Yago Partal truly reminds me of the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox, which featured animals in clothing, many such as these used by Yago. The only sad part about it is that many of these animals dress better I do (lol). For more images of Yago's Zoo Portraits project visit the project page, where you may buy prints. Magical Animal Photography by Gregory Colbert

Magical Animal Photography by Gregory Colbert

One of the most magical movies I've seen is the Life of Pi. The story of a boy trying to understand and survive alongside with a tiger is simply breathtaking. The power of animals has inspired many stories, such as this and many others. Also, from time to time we see some truly magical photographs that show us that power, and how great it would be to be friends of animals. Gregory Colbert has spent much of his life capturing moments that show us how possible that is. Since he began creating his singular work of Ashes and Snow in 1992, Colbert has undertaken filming and photographic expeditions to every continent to collaborate with more than one hundred species around the world. Colbert, who calls animals "nature's living masterpieces," photographs and films both wild animals and those that have been habituated to human contact in their native environments. There is no digital collaging. The images record what he saw through the lens of his camera. While Colbert uses both still and movie cameras, the photographic images are not taken from the film. Gregory is a great photographer for making making us believe in true friendship between humans and wild animals. For more of his fantastic pictures, please visit his portfolio. You'll love it. Cheers. ;)
