The Carqueija House is located in Camaçari, Bahia - Brazil and when you first look at it you see something like box. The project is simple and really beautiful. In order to have the best orientation, in a tropical county, the house closes itself from the front street view, which is west, and opens into the backyard, creating a privative and integrated place. That way, on the front facade, architectural elements, as a narrow windows and a pare-soleil was used to protect the house against solar irradiation, while the back facade, on east side, completely integrate the inside with the outside, through large windows, sliding doors and a porch, connecting the house with the green area. This house is really beautiful. Beautiful Houses: Chicken Point Cabin in Idaho

The idea in this series is to show beautiful and inspiring houses. Houses that are remarkable for its design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful. So if you like architecture, interior design and beautifully designed houses, you are at the right spot. Check out this week beautiful house and stay tuned for more... This week we present you the beautiful Chicken Point Cabin. The idea behind the Chicken Point Cabin was to create a little box with a big window that opens and integrates with its surroundings, taken advantage of the landscape. The cabin’s big window-wall (30 feet by 20 feet) opens the entire living space to the forest and lake. Materials are low maintenance—concrete block, steel, concrete floors and plywood—in keeping with the notion of a cabin, and left unfinished to naturally age and acquire a patina that fits in with the natural setting. This place is really cool! It is simple, contemporary and really beautiful. The enormous window, concrete/wood/glass combination and wide spaces created a cozy and functional house. If I would live in a house like this? Certainly. ;) Check out Olson Kundig Architects website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time. We found this house at ISO50. The Passive House by Karawitz Architecture

No, this is not a post of Beautiful Houses, could be because this house is beautiful, but I thought I could do a post about it with another goal, the constructive and sustainable differential of this house somewhat unusual. Located in Bessancourt in France, it's a project by Karawitz Architecture . It reminds me those houses that used to draw as a child, a box with roof, and this is basically the design of Passive House. But when we analyze it goes a bit further, I can say is bold from the floor to the roof. The only concrete used in this work is the foundation and over it are structured large rigid wooden panels, covered with bamboo rods. The roof has a lot of blades to capture solar energy generation. Other than that the interior part of a minimalist line, with only a few colors, a few furniture and of course a lot of raw wood covering the walls and ceilings. The solar orientation generate heat and direct light from one side while the other is closed to keep warm on cold days. Perhaps lacking a little color and life in some places, but for those who like simplicity is an amazing building.

Positive volumes are balanced atop negative creating a heightened tension and intrigue. A glass-skinned throughway connects and distinguishes the two dominant volumes, or towers, capturing light and adding to the sense of interior capaciousness. Ok...I missing words here to describe this house. I think wow says enough and I will have to say that I'm in love with River Road house. Everything in this project got my attention, the angles, the materials, the landscape, everything is awesome. Congrats to Hughes Umbanhowar Architects. ;) Check out Hughes Umbanhowar Architects website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time. We found this house at Freshome.

Beautiful Houses: FYF Residence in Argentina

The idea in this series is to show beautiful and inspiring houses. Houses that are remarkable for its design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful. So if you like architecture, interior design and beautifully designed houses, you are at the right spot. Check out this week beautiful house and stay tuned for more... This week we present you the modern FYF residence. The FYF residence is a project by PATTERNS, a firm with a very particular style that describe its work as an attempt to deal with architectural organizations capable of acquiring a rather unseen degree of material performance. The FYF Residence is located in Rosario, Argentina. FYF Residence can be described as an attempt to deal with the generic and undifferentiated flatness of the landscape. The project was conceived as a monolithic solid, a monochrome form only punctuated by subtle inflections that establish a complex physical relationship among the different spaces while maintaining a sense of identity and privacy between them. Specifically, a supple concrete shell constitutes the body of the house. Problematic transitions are registered into the shell through folds and bends. The modern look of this house really got my attention. I loved the geometrical shapes and the mix of materials. The white walls contrasting with dark wood, concrete and glass gave the house an unique style. Really interesting... got me wondering about the decoration. ;) Check out PATTERNS website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time. :) We found this house at ArchDaily.

Beautiful Houses: Bergman – Werntoft House in Sweden

The idea in this series is to show beautiful and inspiring houses. Houses that are remarkable for its design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful. So if you like architecture, interior design and beautifully designed houses, you are at the right spot. Check out this week beautiful house and stay tuned for more... This week we present you the beautiful Bergman – Werntoft House. The Bergman – Werntoft House is a project by Johan Sundberg, a person who believes that each project has its own structural strength and refined style. Johan believes that the architect's profession is an artistic endeavor with elements of technology, economics and many other things. One of his projects, the Bergman – Werntoft House, is a house situated in the heart of the Ljungskogen forest, in Vellinge, south of Malmö - Sweden. The design is based on the Danish atrium house typology from the 60s and 70s and has an outer brick wall and an inner façade which is mostly glazed. The inner and outer walls of the building are folded and doors and windows move in and out of alignment along the outer walls. This helps define spaces and views, frames the nature outside and creates an inner life. This is certainly another beautiful house. I really like this combination of shades and types of wood with glass and some white interior elements, I think that the outcome here is great. An elegant and cozy house that allow you to have nice views without loosing privacy. Check out Johan Sundberg website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time. :) We found this house at ArchDaily. Photos by Henrik Magnusson.

Beautiful Houses: KvD in Netherlands

The idea in this series is to show beautiful and inspiring houses. Houses that are remarkable for its design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful. So if you like architecture, interior design and beautifully designed houses, you are at the right spot. Check out this week beautiful house and stay tuned for more... This week we present you the super elegant House KvD. The House KvD is a project by Grosfeld Van der Velde Architects, a firm that believes that each projects has its own essence and personality and that this is something really important to follow on the creative process. They believe that as an architect they have a huge responsibility towards the space they are building, the space where people will live and/or work. The house KvD is located in the woods of Teteringen, close to Breda, southern Netherlands. In the residents point of view an important thing was to experience the green environment around them in a really intense way and this ambition formed the main concept of the building: a house that feeds in between the trees, giving every arbitrary movement a surprising perspective on the forest. The square-shaped volume keeps you in constant contact with the environment. They also intensify the sculptural characteristic of the volume, the facade is made of vertically placed black stained wooden parts. The subtle details in combination with shape and material make the house modern, but also reserved in it’s afforested environment. I think this is a really elegant house. The wide clean spaces, the minimal interiors, the views... everything is stylish and elegant. It's certainly a modern house, another great architecture accomplishment. Check out Grosfeld Van der Velde Architects website for further details about this and other projects. See you next time. :) We found this house at freshome.
