Alphabet Illustrations

Alphabet Illustrations

We posted about the work of Flavio Montiel a few times here on ABDZ and he always keep surprising us. I saw that he has been doing a daily series on Dribbble of beautiful compositions of the alphabet letters. He is already on the letter M so we decided that it should be featured here on ABDZ Flavio Montiel, is an Art Director and 3D Artist based in São Paulo, Brazil. After 4 years working as an Art Director for Harley-Davidson, he quit his job and started his own studio called Bodi Multimedia, which is more focused on web. It was around that time he realized that he couldn’t hold back his love for illustration anymore and started to work as freelance illustrator as well. 3D for me was always more like a hobby and i’ve been learning it for about 10 years. Even though i’ve worked for a few agencies and a very wide range of clients as a Designer and Art Director, and even as a freelancer developer, 3D was always with me on those moments when you want to create something cool from the top of your head, without the pressure of it being a paid job, nothing more. Typography in Motion

Typography in Motion

I am always amazed to see the evolution of the design community and the adoption to new styles and techniques. Motion design seems to be taking over, not only in the design industry, but everywhere. Apps like Snapchat are proof to this evolution and it gives a glimpse of a day where no more static images will be seen. Until then I hope we find a better format than GIF. That said, for this post I want to share some beautiful examples of typography in motion created by Starov Evgeniy and Dubnichenko Alexey. The main idea of this collection is to show new vision of using lettering logos combining animation and calligraphy. Each of these works have their own style and animation details so they can be placed in any kind of media space and become a part of the branding. Ethos Typefaces

Ethos Typefaces

Every Friday we post some awesome free fonts on our Friday Free Fonts, but what if we can get a new serif font on a Tuesday? For today's post I want to share a really cool font created by Florian Klauer, an art director from Bielefeld, Germany. Serif fonts always have this elegant feel and Ethos is not different, check out after the break and you understand. Ethos is a contemporary serif font family. It comes in 36 font styles with true italics and a huge bunch of opentype features like small caps, ligatures, nominators and denominators, fractions and many more. Its x-height is pretty high, which makes it legible even on small font sizes. Above that, the lighter weights have a rather low-contrast line style, which improves the legibility on display application especially on smaller sizes. On larger font sizes, the typeface stands out with a distinctive character of geometrically shaped letters with soft rounded corners. Each font face contains 500+ glyphs, supporting a huge amount of languages, mathematical operators, symbols and punctuations. The fonts are available here (80% off launch-sale): http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fonts-with-love/ethos http://www.fontspring.com/fonts/fonts-with-love/ethos?refby=fontswithlo…
