YES. Lettering Experiment

YES. Lettering Experiment

A few weeks ago we shared one of the projects that José Bernabé posted on his Behance profile and since then I started following him to see what he comes up with next. Of course he didn't disappoint us with a really cool project titled YES. Lettering Experiment. I love the organic feel of the composition with a melting/dripping paint style and because of that, once again we are featuring him on ABDZ. For more information check out http://josebernabe.com/

Chemical Cloud Elements

Chemical Cloud Elements

I love clouds, I know it sounds weird but I always loved to admire the clouds formation, the depth, colors and dimensionality that they create in the sky. I used to create a bunch of artwork and in the end I always added some clouds texture to give a bit more realism. Anyway, in this post I would love to share the project titled Chemical Cloud Elements by José Bernabé. It has some beautiful compositions mixing clouds and typography, totally worth checking it out. Impossible geometric shapes combined with psychedelic colors clouds. The juxtaposition of the two, creates a tension between nature and artifice For more information check out http://josebernabe.com/

Lootcrate Typography

Lootcrate Typography

Yesterday we posted a really cool article featuring some beautiful typography work done for the OFFF conference. Today, we have another equally amazing post, different techniques and outcome but visually beautiful just the same. The project is for Lootcrate, a subscription service that every month sends you a box full of stuff from movies, tv series, cartoons, comics and video-games. Every month they have a different theme and Gabriel Silva was invited to illustrate their promo image for this month's theme: CYBER Gabriel, an illustrator and character designer from Sao Paulo, Brazil says that the idea behind the project was to draw each letter of the word as a character/element from a franchise featured in the box. "They suggested I drew the C as a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica and I ran with the concept" - he says. For more information about Gabriel, check out his website at http://www.gabrielsilveira.com/ Planning Since it was set the illustration would center around the letters in Cyber and the client asked for each on to look like an object, I started by choosing a font and projecting it in an isometric view. This made it easier to block the overall composition of the piece and also help maintain the readability throughout the process. Cleaned Up Sketch After the first sketch was approved I refined the drawing paying a lot more attention to references. I think this step is actually more important to me than to the client, I find it a LOT easier to take every design decision as possible before going to Illustrator. This is the base for my final illustration. Final Illustration Some extra shadows and textures in Photoshop. I was really thinking about the readability at this point and trying to tie everything together a little more.
