The desktopography project arrived in 2005 as a place to download nature / topological themed wallpapers with edits from selected designers. Designers spend about 90% of their waking life in front of a computer so the most appealing genre for a wallpaper would be one that has beautiful design mixed with the all important aspect of being outdoors. Ever since its conception, Desktopography has been a non-profit, fun project and we would encourage you to share this site with family, friends and people you know, there is something here for everyone not just designers. Most of the wallpapers here can be downloaded in a variety of sizes For the designer, creating wallpapers is a great way to perfect your craft and create images specifically for different environments from desktops and laptops to mobile phones and MP3 players. What we see everyday can affect our mood and state of mind, enhance your desktop with a wallpaper creation from desktopography and feel the essence of nature and the outdoor existence on your computer. Bring tranquility to your desktop, feel the wilderness and give your background a breath of fresh air.. Participate? Desktopography currently works on an invite only basis, however if you think you are up to scratch in Photoshop and think you could create something nice for next years exhibition then please get in touch via the contact section. We have a high quality control system, and we will need to see examples of your work. Creating Smoke Tutorial: 2 Years Anniversary - 1000 business cards giveaway

In December 16th of 2006, I started Abduzeedo with the idea of making it a place where I could share design things I like, but also backup some Photoshop experiments. Then in March 22nd of that year I posted a little walk through article on how to create a stylish smoke using Photoshop and the Liquify filter, and fortunately it became very popular and has promoted Abduzeedo throughout the web. I remember that I was looking for a way to create that effect for quite some time, then when I was driving back home and had an idea of what could be the best way to do the effect. I got home and put my laptop on the kitchen table and using only the laptop's trackpad I created the image. Today, we celebrate the second anniversary of the tutorial that really gave some visibility to Abduzeedo. It was our first article to hit Digg's frontpage and also was featured in some great sites such as Lifehacker. And for this celebration, we will give away 1000 postcards from PrintPrintPrint.biz, to participate, just leave a comment. We will announce the winner next week. Also, I've created a wallpaper with that image. If you haven't checked the tutorial yet, you can take a look at "Create Smoke in Photoshop". A really small act is able to cheer you up and increase your productivity: changing your desktop wallpaper at least once a month. Wallpaper of the Week #43 - depthCORE HEIST

The wallpaper of this week is super cool, it's an image from the new depthCORE chapter called HEIST. It was created by Theo Aartsma from Sumeco, http://sumeco.net, a Dutch designer with an impressive portfolio. The first instalment of a two-part banger, HEIST is designed to be a fun ride around the seamier side of life, with our artists focussing on any aspect of the theme that suited their fancy and riffing out whatever caper came to mind. Though it took a while for us to hit our stride behind the scenes, once we got going on this chapter it started to gather some serious momentum, and we’re pretty stoked with the end result. We're similarly happy to be back to a sans-serif look on the site - much love to Matei Apostolescu and Brian D. Smith for their hard work on our slick new skin. For more information visit depthCORE XXXVI - Heist. Desktop Version iPhone Version Resolutions: 1920x1200px 1680x1050px 1440x900px 1280x1024px 1280x800px 1024x768px iPhone
