Beautiful Experimental Photos by Marcin Stawiarz

Marcin Stawiarz is an experimental photographer from Poland that has a sort of fascination for landscapes and urban scenes. I've been a great fan for a quite long time already and that's why I decided to share some of his photos with you, especially because Marcin is able to transform very ordinary subjects into almost surreal images through excellent illumination and different angles.

All Marcin's photos look like they come out of a dream or something, very subtle and at the same time impressive. Not surprisingly, he has been awarded several times and also featured on many publication.

I’ve always been fascinated by landscapes – places that are absolutely desolate, where I can stay one on one with nature. For me, the growing joy right before pressing the shutter button as well as the possibility of interacting with the world filled with inspiration is as important as the creative act itself. This initial fascination has rapidly grown into obsession that eventually took control over my life.

Since the beginning of my adventure with photography, every landscape has been an unforgettable experience, thanks to which I’ve learned how to interpret light – the single most important (and the single most waited for) factor that shapes my images. On the other hand, lighting is directly connected with another key element of photography – luck.

Proper weather, interesting cloud patterns or even a couple of sunrays breaking through the clouds, have many times decided that after a couple of failed attempts I was able to reach a satisfactory effect the moment nature displayed her most unpredictable face.

Whereas taking pictures with the main focus on a person involves emotions that are relatively easy to define, depicting an empty street or portraying pulsing nature usually requires qualitatively different feelings that have to fill in for the missing elements, thus making such photograph something more than a simple document.

Beautiful Dark Light Photos by Alcove

One thing that attracts me the most in a photo is the light of it. I really like the atmosphere that different lights can bring to a photo making a normal street become very interesting. That's what Alcove's photos are all about: light. Particularly, dark light. Obviously, those angles are fantastic too. His photos look very surreal, including his not so dark ones. I am a big fan of extreme sport photography as you guys seen a lot of it on my posts before, when I found the work of Dan Vojtech I was amazed, his photos are pure inspiration. Together with some of his work is a little biography so you can get to know him a little bit. Enjoy!

My name is Dan Vojtech and I am a young photographer. I am specializing in extreme sport photographs. It all started 8 years ago with my dad's old camera Zenith- E. Maybe you would not believe but first couple of years almost all pictures which I took were just black and white. I was mostly using Praktic MTL and later on Nikon F 90.

The big change began when I started to study Advertising Photography on Thomas Bata University. Whole day I was surrounded with photos and there was no chance to escape.
Next step was cooperation with magazine Board and Dirtbiker. I started to take more colorful pictures and use more external flashes. More and more I was focusing on clean composition and perfect light.

At the present time I try to improve my work with flashes and try to use something new which has been used. I am working on several new plans which are going to be somewhere between sport and staged photography and which should move our perception of sport.

Trey Ratcliff's Wonderful HDR Images

The first time I saw Ratcliffs work I got amazed about his talent to capture a scene and show it in a surrealist way, an artistic way. At that time I didn't know much about photography or HDR either, but even so, I really liked what I saw. After some research and a photography class I started to admire even more his work and decided to get further information about it to post it here to you. The impressive images from Trey are not only good HDR photography technique but also a natural talent to capture a good scene, in a great angle and with good elements.

Check out a HDR tutorial he has published at his site or a great article he wrote here on Abduzeedo: Really Cool Photo Art Tutorial . Also enjoy the reading of his blog since he also has a great humor.

I’m best well known for, well, I suppose, this site, StuckInCustoms.com, which gets around 350,000 visits per month including one from my mom. In addition to this, Flickr, and other online communities, my work first became popular after I had the honor of having the first HDR photo ever to hang in the Smithsonian.
