Back in October, we covered the LYNK & CO launch in Berlin for the reveal of their Model 01; that will hit the market later this year, starting in China followed by Europe and USA in 2019. Today at the Shanghai International Auto Show, they are taking it one step closer to launch by unveiling the all-new 03 concept. A bold, mid-size and sporty sedan with a classic look that will feature free connectivity and lifetime product warranty for all the other cars including this concept. This model, as well as all the following LYNK & CO cars, is based around connectivity. Customers will find a range of connected technologies on offer in the vehicles, all aimed at making life easier. All models come with a large central touchscreen and telematics systems that are always connected to the internet and the car’s own cloud. The LYNK & CO brand will also provide its users with personalized services, an open API, unrivalled connectivity with vehicle sharing at its heart, e-commerce, and the first dedicated app store for cars. Over the course of the next 12 to 24 months, a new range of premium, state-of-the-art cars at the most accessible of price points will be introduced, with the aim of challenging and redesigning the way in which automotive products are bought, owned and consumed across the world. What I particularly like about LYNK & CO philosophy, approach and business model are the fact that is more than just a car. There’s a definitive mindset behind this brand to be wide open as an open source to creation and collaboration. Some of us might think that CO from LYNK & CO would mean company but it actually means Co:operation, Co:mmunity and Co:nnection. We gotta that play of words! That being said, the car itself would have connectivity features like: Shareable Locks (meaning there will be no key), Start your car from your phone and all to be intended into what they called: Share Mode. I am pretty sure as being an open source, there will be more cool features coming from third parties. As we are well-aware that being giving freedom is an open door to greater things. An innovation unique to LYNK & CO car models are shareable locks. Physical locks will only be needed as a backup for a LYNK & CO car. Both open and start is done via Radio Frequency Identity and digital encryption. As a result, it is possible for anyone to register for a LYNK & CO identity which will entitle them to a digital lock. Owners of LYNK & CO cars will be able to add additional locks to their cars, enabling friends, family or service staff to drive their car. To demonstrate this functionality, LYNK & CO have invented a share mode. A button which enables the owner to make their car available to use for a specific time. This could enable people in an apartment block to share a number of cars instead of needing one car each or for an owner to generate rental income. Requests, payments and all customer relations will be seamlessly managed in LYNK & CO’s digital platform. As you may have seen from our social channels, we have been covering the launch of the new car company called: LYNK & CO (via our Instagram) in Berlin, Germany. It has been an exciting ride as that is our first international unveiling for Abduzeedo. As expected, we are now releasing the first official images for what it would be called the LYNK & CO Model 01. What comes different from them to other car manufacturers from the shopping experience to how you will interact with the car on a daily basis, it will be a whole concept on his own. As we were intrigued about when this will be on the market and at what price? We still don’t know yet but one thing we do know is LYNK & CO Model 01 will be launching first in China and Europe for 2017. The US market will fall shortly afterwards, so more to come. Some Words The 01 will be the most connected car in the world. Designed for a modern, urban audience who are used to collaborative consumption and all the benefits that this brings. As consumer behavior changes from valuing experiences over ownerships, LYNK & CO’s new model for car usage directly answers to this need. With our app, and the LYNK & CO sharing community, both the owner and other member-drivers can easily share a car.
