Last week I decided to spend some time playing with Illustrator and trying to come up with a cool black and white artwork. My inspiration came from some skateboard deck designs which have this sort of 3D effect without using gradients or anything, and not exactly a woodcut effect either. After a few hours I was able to come up with a really nice design, but the most important thing, the whole process was an excellent way to improve my Illustrator techniques.
The wallpaper of this week is another beautiful design created by David Mascha, a artist and designer from Vienna, Austria. David is part of the DEPTHCORE collective and he has been working since 2005 for several design studios from Viena and other international projects.

The book of this week is a book I just got from a friend. It was in my wish list for a long time. The book is called Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information and as the reviews says, it's about our ability to generate information now far exceeds our capacity to understand it.
