Last week we've linked the Tinysong site in our Sites of the Week. Beyond being a great app, it has an really well executed design, and I thought it would be a good idea to reproduce the same design and make a fireworks tutorial out of it.
For this tutorial we're not gonna apply any great effect or use a unknown tool, but only show you a simple way of making neat effects that will make the difference in a layout.
The wallpaper of this week is the first of 2012 and it is to celebrate the new year that has arrived. We wish you all an amazing 2012 with a lot new challenges and new experiences. The idea of this image is to make us all think that the best way to be successful in the future is by doing our best now in the present.

The book suggestion of this week is about colors, one of the most important skills for any designer. The book is called Color Design Workbook: A Real World Guide to Using Color in Graphic Design and it's not only a very useful book, it's a very well designed one.
