Beautiful Modern Vintage Illustrations by Tom Whalen

July 07, 2009 from PauloGabriel's blog

One illustration style that has been seen a lot lately is the sweet Modern Vintage illustration. Mixing vintage poster elements with modern techniques, you get a beautiful result: a modern, stylish illustration that reminds us a lot of those 20's and 30's posters.

I think one of the first times I saw a modern vintage illustration was during the screening of The Incredibles. We've also seen these in Wall-E posters and much more. Two days ago, I found this guy, Tom Whalen, a professional in this style. He's got a lot of these illustrations, and here's a few of them. For more, you need to visit his DeviantART profile profile, which rocks. I hope you enjoy these! Cheers. ;)

Hi, my name is Pascal Verstegen, aka Enkera from Noa Studios. In this tutorial i'm going to explain how easy it is for any photoshop users out there that create a lot of effects-added branding to transform their work into a great and simple animation using After Effects, presumably to spice up your client presentation or intro to your website. Step 1 First, let's take a look at what the kind of work would be that would fit this purpose greatly!

Book Suggestion: Visual Complexity - Mapping Patterns of Information
The book of this week is a book I just got from a friend. It was in my wish list for a long time. The book is called Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information and as the reviews says, it's about our ability to generate information now far exceeds our capacity to understand it.
