The MILK Design Trend

June 10, 2009

Milk is an opaque white liquid produced by the mammary glands of mammals. It provides the primary source of nutrition for newborn mammals before they are able to digest other types of food. Not only all that but Milk is the new and most growing design trend (design meaning typography, manipulations, illustrations and more), it seems like everywhere you go online you find a bit of milk.

By being one of the biggest trends of the years milk is also providing a great source of inspiration to vitalize your mind, but sometimes trends get old so let's enjoy while it last.

SICK!
I love it!

nocturn06/10/2009

Really great collection, very inspiring, thank you.

Phenotype06/10/2009

A lot of these are great works but I think this is easily the strangest design trend of the year. The idea of milk splashing against people's bodies is actually rather unappealing to me.

Yopladas06/10/2009

And no matter what they do, it's still not very original. It's cool, but I think I'll become a designer by throwing some mild, putting on a black background and saying it's art. :/

I just want to post one similar picture

Nice collection!
But... how is it done? By using 3D software like Realflow or Modo (with particles)? Or is all complete Photoshop using stock photos or brushes? Especially those modelling photo from Razooma.
Can anyone give some explaination please? Can't wait! :)

Avalon06/10/2009

This is what i was talking about in the previous post! :D
Milk is a new design trend, awesome!

Rubenvdp06/10/2009

you missed out some of the best milk designs around
but still some cool ones :)

Kelly06/10/2009

I wonder if the purpose of some of the milk designs (whether intentionally or subconsciously) is a sexual theme - most especially on the ones where it's just pouring over women. It's used as a sort of substitute to a specific other white-colored fluid.

mal06/10/2009

Razoomovsky just really went to town with it - the curves and angles are awesome

Joe06/10/2009

"same old same old"

yawn.

TommyFerrell06/10/2009

Though not many of them actually look that impressing.. yeah i got milk .. so what?

They tend to do everything with milk ... gets boring already

chrixix06/10/2009

its pretty trendy at the moment - but to be honest - i dont like this style very much. ;o)

I did a piece like this a while back with Milk splashes, but I changed the colours so it looked like paint splashing.

I love the whole liquid element to this artwork, it just looks so amazing.

Media Militia06/10/2009

@Hans van Eijsden -- Take some pictures of paint/milk or other liquid with a fast shutter on a solid background. We have some freebies on our site (MediaMilitia.com) that you could make white and would look like the milk splatters. Hope that helps!

Great post Paul0!

Gwen06/10/2009

@Avalon- Yup we definately have an eye for trends!

Giancarlo Cruz06/22/2009

Hello!!!

Here is an image I made for the opening of a new museum in Mexico City called MUMCI. This is one of eight different prints. It was made finished 2 months ago. I saw the post on abduzeedo about milk and my mind was blown away.

Anyway, hope you like and please comment.

The copy says "Luis Pasteur. Discovered pasteurization."

Peace.
