Web Design: Photographic Background

August 07, 2008 from PauloGabriel's blog

If I were told to make a list of web design trends I love, there would be really few itens. Wood, glowing stuff and other things... and most definately, photographic backgrounds!

I even had a personal project back a few years agora, but it never went online. Here are a few websites that we get to see this awesome trend... most of them are flash sites, because when you have a photo background, it's important that it will respond to your resolution... otherwise, if you have a 1280x1024 back photo, it will lose a lot of information in 1024x768.

Do you guys know any other cool sites like these? Or even cool tutorials on how to do it? If so, leave a comment! Enjoy! ;)

New Year Creating a New Typeface in Illustrator
When I created the very first version of Abduzeedo I did a simple logo because I didn't have much time back in 2006, I wanted the blog up and running as faster as possible. However after a few months I decided that it would be cool to have a nice and unique logo, but without using any symbol. That's why I chose to create a font instead of using an existing one and with Adobe Illustrator new anchor point features this task is much easier.

The wallpaper of this week is an homage we pay to the man who showed the world that technology is nothing without a good experience for the user. That design has to be at the top of the hierarchy when it comes to good products and of course that we can and should follow our dreams. Thank you Steve. Book Suggestion - Poke the Box
The book of this week is Poke the Box. Written by Seth Godin, Poke the Box is very inspiring and motivating about initiating and shipping. It makes you think about so many things and makes you want to make things happen. If you're stuck at the starting line, you don't need more time or permission. You don’t need to wait for a boss’s okay or to be told to push the button; you just need to poke.
