One of the coolest ways for designers to promote their work, not only in the beginning, but also during their career, is to make gig posters! The greatest thing about it, is that you have, most times, total freedom to come up with some crazy designs, and that just rocks.
So yesterday, I ran into a Brazilian gig poster blog, called Posterize, which features tons of cool designs. That just reminds me how many cool bands are out there, just waiting for a freelancer to offer a poster. And seriously, you should not ask for payment for this kind of work, ever. This goes both ways, you promote the bands' work, and people get to know yours, and you'll get lots of calls to make more of these.
So, if you don't know how to promote yourself, just look for any band that is actually doing gigs, and offer them your services. You won't regret. Anyways, for more awesome Brazilian gig posters, you should really visit Posterize, because there's some sweet designs there. Enjoy and cheers! ;)
P.s.: If you happen to know any of these band, drop us the link for their music! (myspace, personal site, whatever).
