40 Fantastic Sand Sculptures

May 25, 2009

Sculptures can be made nearly out of everything. While I was searching for some images I saw a photo of a sand sculpture and was impressed, what people can do out of sand and also how big and detailed they can be, just awesome.

After a few searches on Flickr and DeviantArt, I ended up selecting 40 simply awesome sand sculptures. I hope you enjoy my little collection :)

I hope go there this year :D

TommyFerrell05/25/2009

they're awesome.
I saw some dude doing sand in frejus (france). Its not easy and he told me that he started over 9 times already on the sculpture he was doing.
I guess you gotta be very enduring to do that kind of art!

japagreenfield05/25/2009

cara, muito bom...incrivel, sempre quando eu to na praia eu tento fazer esculturas assim (rsrsrrsrsrsrs) , melhor deixar pra profissionais =D

DarioM05/25/2009

é muito dificil mas eles poem muita água para ficar quase rocha

Its really hard to do but they put alot of water to be easier if you touch looks like rock

O.O that's a lot of water and sand; and i thought some of the sand castles of my youth took a while to make. very talented!

Incredible.

It's stuff like this that make all the atrocities of man seem all the more heartbreaking. I guess if we are capable of such amazing and creative endeavors, we are capable of the opposite; horrifically destructive endeavors. One might say they are mutually inclusive.

Why this post in particular made me think that, I do not know.

Pedros05/26/2009

Amazing! :)

Although, there are lots of sculptures there that are done in a mix of sand and a "solidifier" eheheh, almost like concrete ;)

But the quality of the works and the artist in undeniable ... :)

I understand that you posted these pics because you were impressed and thought they were great. However, do you realize that by copying them, you violated the artists' copywrites?

Every artist "owns" the rights to his/her art and you cannot legally copy and distribute it without permission.

I am an artist. I post artwork online for sale. It upsets me very much when someone steals my work. I imagine the artists who created these works of art would feel the same way.

We also have a sand sculpture event in Harrison Hot Springs, BC, Canada, or I should say had as apparently not happening this year but here's the website where you can see past years www.harrisandorg.net.

NANCY...PLEASE! These wonderful works of art are by design DOOMED... The creators/artists know this going in.
Sanid honors their genius and creativity by sharing it with all of us land-locked bums who long to make it to the beach...and soon. I assure you that every one of those artists could care less about copywrite law, but they sure appreciate those who appreciate them!

Golu06/06/2009

Beautiful sand sculpture, and and an amazing collection.
Not sure how they do this, and how much time it takes on average, to make one of these

Estrella Azul06/08/2009

Amazing sculptures, and great list on your part :)

Larry Kittiver07/03/2009

Absolutely fantastic. I've seen many sand sculptures all over the world but none this amazing. Thanks
