Ooh, some of these are just gorgeous! I especially love the ones that have a lot of facial hair detail. So neat.

If anyone is interested, I'm writing up a little guide on my website (keetee.com) to teach beginning digital painting!

Well these are all really neat but this page took WAY too long to load and I'm on a cable modem!

Your images are not large in dimension but their file size is outrageous! Whoever created these pictures (I'm sure it's multiple people) needs to learn how to save images in Photoshop for the web so pass the message along.

Press ctrl+shift+alt+s to access the save-for-web dialogue. Select the proper file type (Most likely jpeg for web although png provides lossless compression with a slightly bigger filesize) and if you're using jpeg you can go as low as 85 for files with text and 80 for files without text. You will not be able to tell the difference in the original and the slightly compressed version!

I did this to the Johnny Depp picture at the end and by just saving for the web with NO compression the filesize was reduced by 40KB, Saving with quality set to 80 saved 100KB and using a setting of 60 gave me an acceptable image at 150KB less space!

Here it is at 80: http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2291/jdepp80vc8.jpg

(Note: I didn't re-scale it you did on your site with HTML [which doesn't affect file size])

Rant about saving aside, these are mostly cool (a few stinkers to be honest with you).

loswl01/30/2009

These are pretty good!!

Anonymous01/30/2009

c'mon, give us a break from celebrity portraits pleaaaassseee no mooore!

kevin01/31/2009

The first is really cool, but Gerard Butler is AMAZINGLY REALISTIC!

Johanna01/31/2009

While most of these are lovely, I do suspect that some of them are just photographs painted over, especially the 6th and 29th.

fab02/01/2009

wowww!! very impressive !! those are awesome!! thanks !!

Eh. These things remind me of all the airbrush work you would see at malls/on the boardwalk back in the late 80's. Proficient renderings, but terrible drawings. Colors are awful, too, for the most part(the Will Smith one is unspeakably bad).

Roddor02/01/2009

Amazing some of the best work I have seen in a long time.

alicia02/01/2009

oh my god i hope i can draw like that one day.... it is the best i am only 12......

axel02/01/2009

i would really like to see some art where its not painfully obvious it was done over a picture in photoshop illustrator ive done this type of art once before and its incredibly easy if you have patience and even easier with a tablet. I dont consider most of it a talent, real talent is making something your own, not just recreating something over again. good pictures but most are talentless, anyone with p.i. knowledge could do this easily

paul0v202/02/2009

axel - i'm sorry man but have you ever tried this? well do one since its so easy and you dont need talent and post here for us, it just aggravating how people hate so much on simple things, if you like ok cool make a comment, if you dont like you dont have to try to bring their work down just because you are not there or you cant do it lol, it's a shame that u like that.

andrew.02/02/2009

first off, i don't get why people are giving the credit to one person. while all of this definitely could be done by one person in about a week of casual "work", the text states that multiple "artists" worked on these. but the real point is that i have very little photoshop knowledge when put in perspective of the things that the program can really do, and yet i can and have created images like these. many of these quite possibly could have been created by loading in a photo found on google images and applying a single generic, unmodified effect. sure these are alright pictures, but i'd rather look at the actual photograph. do real art.

Corinne02/02/2009

These are all great! However, I was getting tired of seeing so many celebrity faces.

cryshop02/04/2009

Many of them are not amazing like the title says.

Gerard Butler picture is the one really amazing.

Stu02/07/2009

This was a great stumble and there is some great work here, if you want to see some crazy photo realistic stuff visit my friends site:

lizzy02/09/2009

some of these are good but most are really shitty.

mike02/11/2009

This isn't very hard to do. Lets see these people try and do the same thing from life, with actual paints.

HMan02/18/2009

The work on that page is AMAZING, lots of celebrities as well. SERIOUSLY TAKE A LOOK

The last one did not deserve to be on the gallery.

Anonymous03/12/2009

I am not going to pretend that I know the first thing about digital painting, but as long as you know what your doing, working from a photo is always easy, whether it be real paint or not. But that isn't what bothered me, I think it is bullshit that Shepard Fairey got so much shit for using an image without consent, while these artist have done the same thing with much less artistic alteration in the final product than the now famous Obama posters. Everyone just wants to have their little piece of the pie I suppose.

Anonymous08/20/2009

Please do a portrait of Bill Kaulitz that would be amazingly breath taking!!! and i love all these they are some of the most realistic drawings i have ever seen!

Lizzy11/04/2009

woaw. ive never heard of digital portraits before, i just sorta stumbled here from Flickr.
they are so amazing... HOW DID U DO IT???

i wonder what i would look like in a digital portrait?
what is the name of the program you use to make these? id really like to check it out!

you're all very talented (and patient, im sure!)

Lizzy11/04/2009

oh,, and what's wrong with "Sage"???
talk about rude!
