January 24, 2009

When It comes to workstations everybody got their own, some are very proud to show what they got, others not so much, it can be clean, messy, old or hi-tech but it is what it is, the place where we sit at almost everyday and do what we do, so take a look at these workstations and get some ideas of what you should do with yours.

If you also got a cool workstation and would like to share, please post it up on the comments so we can see it.

Great post. My mouth is drooling much! I do have a question though. On many of these workstation, you can see a drawing tablet. What do they use it for? Is it only for painting?

paul0v201/24/2009

I don't have one myself but I've used it before to help out on photo manipulations, and it's a big help, also to make drawings and play around but I'm sure they use for something more important, ANYBODY HERE GOT A TABLET AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH US WHAT DO YOU USE IT FOR?

That's a good topic man, I'll try to find out more.

happysky01/24/2009

Yopladas01/24/2009

Paulo; if you want to see one of my favorite examples of what can be done with Wacom/Bamboo tablets, check out Andree Wallain's stuff at http://andreewallin.deviantart.com/

Here is an example:

Andrew Houle01/24/2009

Wow, I'm jealous of all these! I really like the one second from the top!

fractalfrog01/24/2009

Some nice workspaces there for sure and I wouldn't mind some of those huge monitors.

I can't complain though and I'm quite happy with mine, with enough hardware to start my own Apple Store ;-)
But what make my apartment with seperate studio truly unique is its location in a almost 600 year old house just 100 meters from a huge castle. How cool is that??? ;-D

Oscar01/25/2009

Nice desktops, mi picture :)

Buzzlair01/25/2009

an amazing collection. lifehacker got a collection too and it worth the visit.

Jim01/25/2009

Use a tablet to replace a mouse. Does it really need to be said? It's just an input tool. For many, it's easier to edit images in Photoshop using a tablet than it is with a mouse.

By the way, gorgeous work areas here. But I gotta say that many (if not most) of them look "fake" in that they were setup specifically for the photo.

Mr Kuzio01/25/2009

And now... Have a good job! ;)

Justin01/25/2009

Yes, you should do a post about tablets.

This is a fantastic post. I LOVE LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLES WORKSPACES!

For some reason it just is so interesting to me.

Max Stanworth01/25/2009

Some of those are crazy desktops!

Timothy01/25/2009

Wow I love the one with the wall-mounted monitor. But I don't understand why so many people have desks with very little leg room. How can you function like that? I only get desks with nothing but legs under it.

j3ro3n01/25/2009

Nice to see mine in here. (9th from the top)
A lot of nice workspaces here. Only I wonder what you need 8 or 9 screens for... :)

And for the people asking:
A tablet can be used for all kind of things:
Drawing, photoretouching, designing, sketching, etc. etc.
It is more comfortable to do those things with a pen than a mouse.

fab01/26/2009

woww really nice post !! those workspaces are awesome !! it makes me wanna change mine !! thanks !!

Setup #4 looks nice, but I bet the owner develops a facial tic when you mention colour calibration.

gary01/26/2009

Gt. post. Seems like most folks have more than 1 monitor nowdays. I'm skeptical about all those clean, tidy desks...

Colin Harman01/26/2009

I want some of these for myself!

Adam01/26/2009

Nice collection of workstations. Check out mine!

Romes01/26/2009

These are great, i love how simple and clean and aesthetic most of these workspaces look like. Just one question though, how does one even hook up multiple monitors?

John Cartago01/26/2009

Not gonna lie...I'm pretty jealous with some of these.

Claire Yap 01/27/2009

These aren't COOL desktops, these are just plain old boring desktops showing off gadgets!!!

lordCovenant01/27/2009

these are beautiful. . .i wish i could have mine sooner!

Supaspex01/27/2009

The one with the pics imitating icons was a cool idea. Overall, this is a pretty cool to see the different work stations some people have setup

Jaime01/29/2009

As the guy who designed the I FEEL FREE wallpaper of the 2nd pic, I must say, it looks waaay better in those Monitors than on my lap!
