80 Retro Jauna Gaita Magazine Covers

I came across the awesome covers of Jauna Gaita magazine the other day. There was a post here on Abduzeedo about it a year ago to celebrate the Latvian magazine's 53 year anniversary. Today I wanted to show you a more extensive collection of the covers.
The covers span from the 1950s to present and it's amazing to me how they've managed to stay true to the same retro style today as they did 50 years ago. I found these on Mikus Vanags' Flickr, I'm not sure if he's the original artist or not, but either way, check out Jauna Gaita's site and let me know what you think via twitter or facebook!

Wow, there is a great variety here utilizing simple shapes and colors, along with some great illustrations. I love the balance of a lot of these, with such simple elements!

Wow I am very supprised, because I am from Latvia ,
i can tell you some of this cover ,graphic elements is latvian folk traditional symbols/signs , same symbols are very special meaning like a freedom, luck, mother of luck..... .
And this graphic design for me very special because in 1950 Latvia was been occupied soviet union and this graphic design gives latvian special secret code or some other words saying "keep be strong like nation and remember every time what is our nationality " . "
