Since last Friday we’ve been celebrating the famous Carnival here in Brazil. I’m not a huge fan of it but the whole country stops to enjoy almost 5 days of fun. If you like colors and creativity it’s definitely worth checking out some photos, and that’s exactly what I will show you in this post. Carnival is a festival season.

Men all over the world have a common passion: cars. It doesn't matter how old a car is, because if it's a classic or just a beautiful car, we'll love each part of it... even its mechanical parts. That's what a cut-away brings us: sweet extra information. 1951 BRM Type 15
There's nothing better than to play with the tool if you want to learn it. Bert Monroy always mentions that on his podcasts and I truly agree with him. I think the best way to learn is trying to recreate images and effects we like. Here I list my 10 tips to improve your skills in Photoshop, but they can be applied to other tools as well.

Vintage stuff is always a good source of inspiration. Posters, ads, stamps... but how about matchboxes? While surfing on Flickr, I found these on a group called: "the Mid Century Modern - Sticker, Label + Stamp Club group icon", and I loved it. There are Russian , Hungarian, and other countries' matchboxes from the WW II period. Cool look, sweet design.
It looks like mac. It sounds like mac. It feels like mac. It would probably even taste and smell like mac, but wow, it's microsoft. Well... is it? Microsoft Office for Mac has a new and sweet site on, it has a awesome and clean design, with some cool drawings, made on flash.
Dove's been doing a cool campaign, as most of you know, about how beauty industry messes up with women's head... a cool campaign, through virals. It has been release 2 videos already, both of them really impressive and a little bit shocking: Evolution and Onslaught.

You probably are one of those people who doodles in some paper while speaking on the phone... or maybe you just like to draw some random lines, paint it with you Bic Biro pen... and finally you get to throw it away, 'cause you don't think that drawing is important...

Every year we get to see all kinds of logos being made and, besides they're are plenty, most of them follow trends which are most notorious during the period of time when they were designed. It's an endless list of trends. I'd like to present some trends that were really nice during the past years through excellent articles from LogoLounge.
Show me a cool t-shirt design and you get my atention pretty good. I'm a major sucker for tees. For some time now i've been searching the internet for cool designs, 'cause i'm just tired of tees that everyone is uses. Malls are great, but everyone gets the same t-shirts over and over, and what we get is a single design fashion show. And that sucks. Big time.
In a period that people like to say "there's no such thing as bad publicity", I tell you people that if there's no bad publicity, I'm a 100% sure that there's is awesome publicity. US Elections will soon be arriving this year, and we got to see same great publicity from some candidates, but one of 'em deserves a special look: Obama Barack.
Typography · flickr · design
When you are a designer, you gotta think about a lot of things: contrast, balance, alignments, imagery, and typography. For me, design itself is all about typography. Not only typefaces, but how you use it and what you may create playing with them. Typography is the art and techniques of type design, modifying type glyphs, and arranging type.
One of the best features in Photoshop is the Layer Styles. We can create all sorts of effects only using it, you can create, Plastic, Glass, Aqua, Ice, Metals, and many more. Last week I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me that he needed to create a gold effect in Photoshop. He tried to find a good tutorial online but he said he didnt find any.

Openjobs is a very cool project where I had the opportunity to work in partnership with my brother. It’s basically a job board target for the Brazilian Market, inspired by Krop, 37signals GigBoard and Authentic Jobs. One of the coolest things about this project was the freedom I had to create the design and the CSS.
This last december was a bit odd, I was robbed, they took my laptop and 2 iPods, I had all my backups and all my clients jobs in those, for sure one of the most delicate situations in my life, I didn’t know what to do. So I decided to start a blog and save some of the jobs I done and share them with everyone.
December is here, another year is ending and nothing better than creating a Christmas desktop wallpaper using Photoshop to celebrate that right? Well, maybe not. Anyways I created this image using paths, the brush engine and layer styles in Photoshop.
The last tutorial I wrote for the psdtuts.com was about how to mock up a business card using the Vanishing Point Filter in Photoshop. However some people asked me how they could do that without using that filter, or using other tools like GIMP, Pixelmator, and others.
