Alice in Wonderland Movie Concept Art

April 20, 2010 from PauloGabriel's blog

Last year we've featured the awesome work of concept artist Michael Kutsche, who makes some amazing pieces that are breathtaking. Back then, I remember seeing an illustration of the Red Queen, but i didn't pay much attention.

A few days ago I ran into his work once more, and I realized that the Red Queen I'd seen before was only the beggining of a co-op with Tim Burton himself to the Alice in Wonderland movie. Michael has some amazing early concept arts at his portfolio, which I just have to share with you guys. Also, if you don't remember the first post, check it out here. I hope you all enjoy these! Cheers. ;)

"This is one of the early Madhatter concepts I did for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". I did the drawing before Johnny Depp was cast in the role, that's why there's no similarity." - Michael Kutsche

Easy iOS Style Wallpaper in Photoshop
I have received quite a few emails asking me how to create that sort of linen texture effect we see in the iOS on iPads and iPhones. I like that effect but had never stopped to think about how I could do that in Photoshop, so last week I decided to give it a try. For my surprise it was much easier than I thought. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create the linen texture effect in Photoshop and also the metal/glass effect we see in the Apple logo in the iOS.

Book Suggestion: Why We Buy - The Science of Shopping
The book of this week is not a design book per se but it's an incredible book. I have just finished it and I got so much valuable information that can be applied in my day to day job as designer. The book is called Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping--Updated and Revised for the Internet, the Global Consumer, and Beyond by Paco Underhill.
