Yes...How on earth does he do it.
Oh.
This is amazing, I am a big mark Knopfler fan so I loved the one of him playing his Stratocaster, he looked a bit fatter though :P
But then again, he is much older now.
Wonderful work!
Nice work, though I'd like to point out that copying a photo isn't really about artistic skill, but rather Photoshop proficiency. And looking at Kyle's portfolio, if the photo reproductions were removed, the remaining art really isn't all that amazing. Just a fellow artist's thoughts :)
good freaking work ;)
I wonder what applications hes using to get these effects. Art Rage or PhotoChop?!
Some pictures look like it has a real photo on background and he just did some painting on a layer above lol
amAAAAAzzzziiinnnngggg......and he is a student??? no way.. he is a pro, shud quit whatever he is studying. hez got it.
one word: AMAZING!
wow.... how long does it take do make these?!?!!?! :o
this artist is incredible, left me with no words to saw jawdropped!!!!
Great art up there, i think theres photoshop in every pic... keep on searching...
I don't know if you guys noticed on the step by step videos but he doesn't use any photo to take base on his painting, it comes out of the blue.
Hey Guys thanks for all the great comments about my work. I really appreciate them.
For those that are saying these paintings are easy to do if you know photoshop or that they are traced I would just like to share a little info on how I do them.
Before I knew you could paint on a computer I used to use oil paints to do my portraits. Below is an example of a 6 foot high painting I did aged 18 of my mum. To paint this I had a photograph to my left right hand side as the reference.
Having gone digital my method is still the same. I have my original reference on the right hand side of my screen and a blank canvas on the left. On some of the more complicated photo-realistic paintings I begin with a grid reference to help me sketch proportions accurately. But as you can see from the videos at the top I usually work from eye and build it up gradually.
A lot of these paintings are just demonstrations of skill rather than "pieces of art" but in my uni work I use these techniques to paint my own ideas and stories.
Hope you all like my stuff
OMG! That's awesome! I thought some of it are photos, but after I saw the video...I almost can't believe it. Very talented indeed. Thanks for posting :)
Thats just not ok how good that is
Cool posts. There are also Digital printings on Uprinting that we guys might wanna see.
looks great
amazing!!! he's got bright future ahead of him
Wow. He is talented.
Tooootally awesome.
you can do that in Corel Photopaint. There's a trick that you can put in a "tracing" paper and trace your way to the actual picture.
Wowwwww! Amazing work!
those pictures of megan fox and rihanna, it's realy so photo realistic...very well done...
I've always wondered one thing maybe it opens a discussion over here:
What's the point in creating a painting, that's so realistic that it almost looks 100% like a photo? Is it the challenge to create such high level of realism? Otherwise why don't just take a real photo? :)
Not realy an oppinion of mine, but a thing i'm wondering how others think about :)
But again, love this work
Amazing work Kyle! Wow!
This guys work is incredible. It is refreshing to see that he has the technical ability to do this with the computer program and with more traditional materials.
I think if you look at the potential here beyond the ‘celebrity paintings’ this guy could be very successful. I am certainly taking not of his web address!
Love the style of the Will Smith Pic!
Gr8 work..i liked the matrix one a lot...
P.S:chk some of my works http://www.flickr.com/photos/11307923@N07/
Sweet art! Love the videos, and your website is amazing! Did you make it??
How long do they take to do.. they wud take me forever!
To answer a couple of the questions in here...
They do take a while to do. The only piece I have ever timed was the Megan Fox painting which took just over 8 hours to paint, 2 sittings of 4 hours. I only know this because I recorded a screen capture of me painting it. Usually they take a bit longer though, depending upon how complex the image is.
I primarily use Photoshop and a Wacom Tablet on my Mac to paint these, with my own color pallet and brush sets.
And finally, yes I did build the website myself. It was a pretty painful process at times because I was learning Flash at the same time as making it.
Thanks for all the great comments and emails I have received. I really appreciate it and a BIG Thanks to abduzeedo.com for featuring me : )
Keep checking my site as I update regularly..
