Amazing Steampunk Illustrations

July 20, 2009

Where it began, I don't know, but the steampunk style has been out there for some long time now, and we've seen series and movies with the idea of a "high tech vintage" life. For me, one of the most fun steampunk movies is the 1999's Wild Wild West, which featured a lot of the great steampunk gagdets.

Today, we bring to you a compilation of steampunk illustrations, which where found at DeviantART. These are pretty great, and gives a good insight on what the past could have been if there was high technology back then. I hope you enjoy these, and if you remember any more movies, series, animated series, that feature the steampunk world, share it with us!! Cheers. ;)

I'm not sure if it created the Steampunk genre but it was certainly a major work in defining Steampunk:

"The Difference Engine" by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling

Lovely pics!

Castle in the Sky, Howls Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away.... almost every Studio Ghibli anime movie out there features steampunk technology. perty neat. O and the Cowboy Bebop movie I just saw last night, totally steampunk.

Fantastic

Please include artist credits !

Charlie07/30/2009

Wow!, Amazing work, I love it.

Include the artists' credits, man, seriously. These are mostly amateur artists who publish their work online to be recognized-- posting a bunch of their hard work without commentary or credit is pretty lame and unhelpful.
