The Art of Jeremy Fish

September 13, 2011 from marcos333's blog

If all this softwares and shortcuts on creating illustrations, we don't get to see so many tradicional illustrators as twenty years ago. Or maybe I'm wrong, anyway, I discovered Jeremy's artwork while researching on graffiti websites. Of course, he's not a graffiti writer, but a really badass illustrator. His artworks are so well made that makes me belive they can be all handmade.

If you want to know more about Jeremy, please access his Personal Website.

With a degree in painting and a focus in screenprinting Jeremy's education and work experience has lead to a career as a fine artist, and a commercial illustrator. Finding a balance between exhibiting his work both across the US, and internationally in galleries and museums. while maintaining a presence designing skateboards, t-shirts, viynl toys, album covers, periodical illustrations, murals, and sneakers. The artwork is mainly about storytelling and communication, told through a library of characters and symbols. With an emphasis on finding a balance with the imagery somewhere between all things cute and creepy. Jeremy has lived and worked in San Francisco for the past 15 years (Jeremy's Website).

Nice Vintage Badge in Pixelmator
Last year we published a tutorial showing how to create a nice badge in Photoshop and Illustrator. Now we decided to do the same, or similar effect using Pixelmator and its new vector tools. The result is very good and there are some nice techniques to overcome the lack of some more complex shapes. So in this tutorial we will show you how to create complex shapes in Pixelmator and add round corners to it. After that we will show you how to make it look like an old badge using textures and some basic filters and blending.

Book Suggestion - Poke the Box
The book of this week is Poke the Box. Written by Seth Godin, Poke the Box is very inspiring and motivating about initiating and shipping. It makes you think about so many things and makes you want to make things happen. If you're stuck at the starting line, you don't need more time or permission. You don’t need to wait for a boss’s okay or to be told to push the button; you just need to poke.
