Beautiful Personal Portfolios

July 23, 2009 from amanda's blog

These past few weeks I've been on the lookout for some nice portfolios to inspire me to make my own. I've been applying to some schools, my goal being NYU, and if any of you guys have any tips on colleges and building photography portfolios, please send them my way on facebook or twitter! I'd really appreciate any help!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you some sweet portfolios I came across while surfing the web. Hope you enjoy them :)

Vintage 3D Typography in Photoshop with Repoussé
Sunday is the day to play with Photoshop and try some new ideas. As usual I went through some books and Web sites to find some inspiration. I am still addicted to the Handy Book of Artistic Printing, it's a must have book for some old style print references. I got some ideas and also found this amazing image from Alex Beltechi on Dribbble called Twisting in the Wind. Then I new the effect I wanted to know how to create in Photoshop.

Wallpaper of the Week #70 - Dizzy Pattern
The wallpaper of this week I designed inspired by a skateboard deck design from the Element. It's a vector pattern that creates a really nice optical illusion. I, also, prepared 2 versions a dark one for those like me who like dark wallpapers and the original version that is more bright, but with a nice retro feel. Check out the tutorial: Rad Pattern in Illustrator that Makes you Dizzy .
