The Beauty of Infographics and Data Visualization
June 18, 2009
Here in Brazil there's a magazine called "Super Interessante" (which had an Abduzeedo cover a little time ago), that always features some really cool infographics. This is a field that if you make things right, you got yourself inside a great niche.
Yesterday I went through a whole bunch of sites dedicated to the subject, which took me complety by surprise, because I dind't know that there were sites only about infographics and data visualization. I really loved it, and made a little post with some links to awesome pieces of this art. Yes, it is a true art. I hope you enjoy these, and that it will inspire you somehow. Cheers! ;)

That is an awesome roundup. I really like some of those and think that they are pretty inspiring and a good bank to look at before starting your own infographic.
Cheers,
Amazing; infographics are so cool. Though there's a lot of responsability when doing it, huh?
Cheers
Good stuff. Welcome to the data vis team. You can check out a pretty decent collection of infographics and data visualization here:

Some one should do a infographics tut. And double quick. Everything looks great. Thanks for the compilation, As always it's appreciated.
Thanks for this amazing selection - and discovery of GOOD magazine. Excellent, as usual ;)
There are some fantastic data visuals here! I think the use of imagery to convey data can be very compelling. It draws viewers in and taps into their creative side.
The root source of the info is still the most important but this can really amplify data for those who are more visually-learners.
you has forgot one of the most beautyfull

Some great stuff in here, especially the first ones.
some really nice pieces, diggin the Bankruptcies and Obama graphics
Great compilation. I believe infographics are some of the most challenging types of art, as they must simultaneously serve two completely different purposes.
On the one hand, you must be able to generate a concept and have a strong graphical impact. Second, you have to accurately display the information in way that is logical, as well as fits with the overall design.
Turning spreadsheets into works of art, what a talent.
Inspiring :D

Just wondering, how do you make this kind of infographics?
Just photoshop, illustrator or are there really dedicated tools?
Paulo, it is nice to know new stuff, but you based your selection mainly on GOOD magazine, which is nice, but not the best in infography that there is around. You forgot the best infographics of them all, the ones from NYTimes.
And Superinteressante's graphics look nice but actually don't have much information on them. Try looking at Época magazine, they have some really good stuff there.
These are really cool! I hope to design something like one of these in the near future.
