Big Fonts in Web Design
August 08, 2009
Web design has its own limitation, and us, web designers, have been working and learning how to overcome these constraints to create better solutions. Typography is our most important asset and we're seeing that designers are applying old concepts that they've learned from print design and applying to web design, in the right way. That's why we've been seeing more and more big contrasts in font sizes.
In this post we selected some pages that we have for inspiration to show you that.

That's an amazing collection you are displaying. Though I am trying a bit in this direction, never thought I would see such a variety at one place.
Thank you very much. Keep it up!
I've got a soft-spot for tightly kerned, all-caps sans-serifs. I can't seem to find a use for bold slab-serifs as some of these great websites here use. They remind me too much of children's wooden alphabet blocks (though I do love Inkcover's titling).

Sometimes i find big fonts are good to be used , depending on the concept we are work on.
Great post, awesome introduction. "Typography is our most important asset" - priceless

Eu não desgosto "big fonts" mas acho que actualmente estão a ser usadas em demasia, de tal forma que se torna enjoativo. Continuo a preferir fontes de tamanho médio e pequenas. (paixão por pixel fonts) :P
Speaking of the importance of type, there's an error in the second sentence of your opening paragraph.
"...we've seen that designers are really apply old concepts"
I have no idea what that means
Nice list. Big fonts rock
Bigger the better ;]
I love the bright one from Ryan Keiser, although it makes me need my sun glasses.
Am I the only one that thinks most of these sites are ugly and unusable?
More and more I'm thinking Jakob Nielsen is right.
