Almost 2 years ago, I wrote a Photoshop tutorial that became quite popular. Its effect was a sort of explosion of mental waves, like a powerful superhero attack. Because of the tutorial’s popularity, I decided to recreate that effect in Pixelmator.
The wallpaper of this week is a design I designed inspired by a skateboard deck design from the Element. It's a vector pattern that creates a really nice optical illusion. I, also, prepared 2 versions a dark one for those like me who like dark wallpapers and the original version that is more bright, but with a nice retro feel.

Derek Ring is a illustrator and character design from Worcester, MA, United States with a super cool portfolio. His illustrations are full of details and with subjects that remind me the design from the skateboard industry in the 80's, with zombies, skulls, very colorful and with action scenes with a lot of movement.

I was surfing on Behance when I found one incredible image of a monster. It was quite creepy but really well done, so I decided to check out the author's portfolio. Aja Jones is a digital artists from France with a incredible set of monsters and macabre creatures design. All of them are creative photo manipulations, mixed with paintings and illustration. I would love to see his design process on them.

Yesterday I was checking a book I have about skateboard decks design called New Skateboard Graphics. It's a super cool book and we have even given a copy away here on Abduzeedo. So while I was flipping through the pages I found this beautiful design that was a crazy pattern. It was a deck from Element, and I decided to try to do that in Illustrator.

The wallpaper of this week is a design I created inspired by the Heroes series. I did the image because I wanted to try to create the eclipse effect of the opening titles of that show using only Photoshop. Of course in the end I had to add some little textures to make it looks a bit older, with that vintage feel.
