Bored at home with Photoshop: The Tutorial

December 25, 2008

Last week I posted "Bored at home with Photoshop™" which showed a sped up process of me retouching an image. I was pretty surprised with the results and the simplicity of the effect. With some persuasion by Fabio, I decided to create a tutorial on how I achieved that effect.

So without further ado here is the tutorial:

O and if you have any questions, post it in the comments.

Hey man! Keep posting those tutorials, 'cause I watch you make things and I slowly learn! :) By the way, this tut was quite the awesomeness. I'mma go try it out on various other things now :)

"Deretouching, making her uglier" ;). I love your approach, very fluid. I think the effect is a bit much but it's interesting non the less. Always keep experimenting.

Merry Christmas,
Gideon

Dude, normal tutorials are so much better because you just scroll to what you want to see. Video's are a nightmare - you have to wait or scroll via the video scroller etc etc and you can't see things as clear as you can in image. I hate video tutorials - never follow them

Good Job!

I've been waitung for this all week :D and now it's here. On christmas day!
Thank you!

and Merry Christmas!

@Umar Salmans i disagree with u video tuts are a great way to see the areas in a more detailed way..

josemanuelconcha01/02/2009

i think the same that Umar

i prefer the "step by step" tutorial cuz , you can analyze better each step in the process and is more easy to follow.

greetings from Chile, i always visit your page and always find something new to see and to learn :D excellent page!

hey guys, in this tutorial your dock seems to be changed. you use different icons for your apps. what is this? is it "prototype" or ready to download?
Thx a lot

agree with umar.....

I loved this tutorial. You really know what you're doing, and it's really an inspiration to just try more tools in Photoshop, and play around with imagery. Oh, and did anyone ever let Kings_DH know that you can change the icons in Mac OS? xD I laughed when I read that one. He/She'd be confused if they saw my dock or even my folders as well. Again, enjoyed the tutorial, and take care!

hoze01/14/2009

Hey! I liked a lot your Adobe Creative Suite icons!!!! where i can get those????????

geir nystad01/25/2009

disagree with Umar. i find video tutorial easy to follow because you can se what they did on the image. on step by step it has to be written and even though sometimes it is written very well it is sometimes hard to see.

Spade02/01/2009

I love that 50% grey layer to work with the dodge tool! Amazing trick!
