Breaking Apart tutorial requestListThumbs

Breaking Apart tutorial request

February 27, 2008

Firstly I’d like to thank you all for the emails, I really appreciated them. Besides that, I’ve received some requests from readers, what is awesome because sometimes I don’t have much time to think on ideas for tutorials.

The best thing about this requests is that I can learn new techniques and explore Photoshop in a new way. This new tutorial I’m writing is an example. Some users sent me emails asking how to create explosions, like breaking apart some objects in images. So yesterday I took some time and did my first image, you can see it below.

UPDATE: THE TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE AT PSDTUTS:

http://psdtuts.com/tutorials-effects/seriously-cool-photoshop-explosion-...

I have to say, the breaking apart effect was easier than I thought, at least for this image. I will try new ways to achieve explosion effects as well. And please, keep sending requests.

I wrote a tutorial last year showing how to do a sort of break apart effect using the displace filter, you can check it out at http://abduzeedo.com/displace-filter-vector-effects

thanks

Anonymous03/06/2008

Hey Abd,

Have you ever tried the Displacement filter (Filter > Distort > Displacement) to achieve this kind of break apart effect?

I'd just like to thank you.

I work for a small printers with two other guys, who bless them, are coming to the end of their profession. As I'm the youngest here, and also the sole designer/mac op. I have found it really difficult to gain inspiration, motivate and to ultimately better myself.

That was until I found this gem of a site, where straight from the out set I felt warm, and energised. I wish to become as competent and as inspiring as you here.

so many thanks again! and please don't disappear!

sincerely
A little fish against the flow ;]

Abdu, .... your site is one of those rare tutorial sites that truly make a difference. Tutorials which are for the slightly advanced photoshop users. I mean users that are way ahead of the beginner stage but still like to learn some of the more advanced and creative techniques. So, ... Thank You!

Bruceleeroy02/28/2008

Abduzeedo,
I am new to the site but I have been doing photoshop for a long time now.
I just want to tell you how fantastic your tutorials are written. Very rarely do you find people with your kind of talent that are willing to share their knowledge and I for one am really appreciative.

Great site, Great info.
Thanks

Thank you very much!!!

I was one of the people who e-mailed you about this. I started getting some results with using the "tile" method, but not near what you achieved. This is exactly what I was looking for!!!

Awesome website by the way. Maybe I'll try and send my finished result once this tutorial is up or if I figure it out first!

Xavier02/27/2008

How many time did it take to you to achieve it?
