Card Contest New Voting
After a little problem, we gotta restart the card contest. Not every card was avaiable for voting and we started the election 1 day earlier! Even if we added the missing cards later, it wouldn't be fair to them, so that's why everyone gets a new chance now.
Here are many designs sent to our Flickr Pool, remember that it was a rule for this contest. So please, you guys may start voting on your best picks. No anonymous vote will be count, nor non-member votes, since it was a member-only contest. You guys cannot vote in your own design, you only must cheer about your own pieces, ok? You guys may choose 2 designs (leave a comment with the numbers you'll choose), and from the results, we'll name the winners. Cheers!! ;)

To be honest I really like #21's typography, I also enjoy #42's simplicity factor.
With that said, #21 and #42 for me

Wow,
Things are getting a little hinky around here. Lighten up folks.

Just as a side note: trim margins and all aside, I can assure you my photoshop skills were in use for the contest but the cards are indeed printable:
Whether I'm included or not in this back and forth...it's always a learning experience to see what others are doing and different approaches to creativity. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's designs whether practical or not... And yes, some of the cards would be a challenge, but that's a good thing, no?
I entered this contest for the fun of it...hopefully everyone else feels the same way :)

tough choice but i stick to 24 & 52
Kooked, I do not want to divert the direction of the blog, which is a vote, but again by allusions:
which you explains haves a lot of sense, of course, but the competition talks about business cards, or conceptual.
Obviously, doing a card other than the standard, always involve an extra (anyone needs a tutorial to understand it) but also mean an innovation, which I think is what may interest a customer, because currently, the only difference in the vast majority of business cards is the layout and colors of the logo.
In addition, if there is a reason why companies that do business producing cards do from 10,000 units, as you say, is because is the purchasing department of a company that makes an order, not the design department. That is why companies have factories in India, Bangladesh or China too, and not in Germany.
Also, companies can reduce costs by working with Paintbrush, and not paying a license Adobe ....
I can make sure that customers who want to influence the market, looking for something to call attention of their potential customers, and an impact business card is a good way.
I have not tried to disrespect you, neither insult, but I think your original comment led to a misunderstanding, and at least in writing, it was pedantic.
Greetings
34 and 24

43, and 30. 4tw. Love the colours in 43, clean design.
45 - it's hand made! cool ;-)
I vote for 3 and 10... good luck once again all!
20 and 52. They caught my eye! =D
jyague - I'll give you a quick tutorial here (you may first want to brush up on your reading comprehension, since you skipped some details in my post and some at print100).
Shops that do die-cuts do not stock every conceivable die-cut imaginable, if you read the mentioned site, it is $30 and up. $30 for one of the 20-30 standard die-cuts which mainly consist of rounded corners, oval shaped and the other standard generic ones. What they mean by "and up" is that it costs more to do the "non-standard" sizes i mentioned in my post. $30 for 300 cards, $30 for die-cutting. Hmmmm, in the book of common business sense, a 100% increase in cost is classified under 'an arm and a leg', to keep it technical. Granted those of us who are designers want to spend it cause you need to spend money to make money, so die-cutting and spot-uv'n and gilded edges make things stand out. This is also obviously a contest to show off your ingenuity and design chops, but this is showing off a lot of people with good photoshop skills but maybe not so much real world working knwoledge of the printing industry. (and like i said, its just a handful, just a few from the 55 or so designs and I think that most of us can pick them out)
But on that same note, those of us who are regularly employed also understand $ makes the world go round and you save and pinch every penny. Turning a run of 300 cards from a cost of $30 to a cost of $80 w/custom made die could be considered an unnecessary expense. There is a reason why large corporations who do business cards in the runs of 10s of thousands dont spend what amounts to just a fraction of a % more for a fancy-cut. But hey, maybe you are getting those lucky clients with fat wallets and a big budget, i just typically find my clients love it when I offer them money saving solutions.
sorry to be so blunt, but all i was suggesting was that maybe Fab do a quick tutorial on margins and you had to get all childish. So keep your kiddy message board insults out of grown-up land.
I really enjoyed #1 #15 and #32.
Those three would have to be my choice =]
GREAT JOB EVERYONE! You all showed your own sense of creativity and imagination. I love them all.
2 and 4 ^^

my VOTES:

kooked, by allusion, before talking about the people knowledge on trim margins, you must try to navigate around.
You can find sites like www.print100.com, where you can do business cards with a diecutting finish, for only 30 dollars.
If you want a beginner tutorial about "how to find interest things, and close my mouth about all the things i dont know", please tell me.
My votes goes to 43 & 53
I say, stiff competition... My votes goes to #49, luv the clouds and #44, because I'm a hippy.
I love most of them but 35 and 45 are the best
Faberdesign, iawtc. i uploaded a card on September, 11th, and on September, 12th there were already more than 60 cards in the contest. why i can see only 55 here? mystery.
i can't say my work is the best one, but really wanted to compete. not anymore, at least not at abduzeedo.
not voting this time.
I like 80% of the cards shown, but the best for me is #5
I vote for #49 & #4
I like 14 and 3
Thanks faberdesign for voting my card.
Your design was great but it's so sad that wasn't included in the list. If you check the date that you uploaded your design, it was dated sept. 14, a day after the closing of the contest.
Cheer-up! there is always a next time my friend :)
Please vote my design it's #35! http://www.flickr.com/photos/edgar_andes/2807453307/
4 + 35 :)
43 and 37
43 and 37
Vote 2 & 21.
And like stated before, there are a good handful that are not really printable. A few with non-standard die-cuts that would cost an arm and a leg and a lot of people who need a quick beginner tutorial on trim margins.
#49 and #1, great designs, interesting and thought provoking.
45 is the most original
Wow, tricky
I vote for 49 first and 14 second
PS Good man for starting this again!
I vote for 4 & 22
Good work all, When's voting end?
its gotta be 43
I'd say #2 & #51...great job. Good luck to everyone!

Ok - I give up.
Even after my comments on the previous post about this contest (which I am extremely happy the voting was re-opened for fairness reasons), my design, and my impetus for the initial upset-ed-ness, is still not up for voting.
*sigh*
If anyone is interested, it is here, in the Abduzeedo group, tagged with uprinting-contest as it should be: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22129033@N06/2854467350/
Alas. I suppose I'll vote: 35 & 22.
Cheers.

2 and 4 really are amazing.
2 and 4
Some of them are really cool, but I think you need to consider that a lot of them wouldn't work once printed. Some people abused of a "glowing" detail that wouldn't be reproduced once printed.
Also I'm sorry but I didn't read the rules and so. But I've see some really kickass cards that hummm... would cost A lot to be produced =P
I liked them all but I choose 43 + 02
Those really did it for me !
I vote for 43 and 51.
4 + 11 best choices for me :)
12 & 34. For me the most creative ideas packed together in a great design.
