Brand Recognition
December 16, 2008
So many of the best brands and icons we're familiar with today are cross-lingual, and are embedded in our minds, they were designed so that anyone can recognize & understand them. With these the shape and/or colour alone is enough to decipher what you are looking at.
I took a series of photographs, putting the camera out of focus most of these images are as clear as they need to be to communicate the logo. Some of these are more obvious that others.
Try standing back from your screen, it might take a while to get some of them, if you cant figure it out, click image and read the flickr description for answer.

Fascinating! The only ones I didn't get, I don't think we have around here... maybe on the East Coast, rather than here in Oregon. Who knows!
Got them all. It helps that I see them all walking through my city centre. They are almost viral.
yeah, some of those i didnt get just because there prolly not in oregon!
Recognized all but that orange/reddish one with the circle (O example) is that Vodafone?
Cool Post! It's amazing the impression brands have on us!

I never thought i would recognise them that well...
you live you learn..
In fairness, on the way home from the pub, that's how McDonalds and Burger King sometimes look. Vodafone is more impressive, I don't think I've ever bought a phone blind drunk.
I love this idea. It’s amazing how much we actually know but don’t consciously know! So even when brands are the in background, our brains are still processing them in some way. Great samples of how subliminal ads work.
awesome idea... the only ones i didnt get were the brands I had never heard of. thanks so much!
