Cutting Images from Pictures Video Tutorials

May 02, 2008

When it comes to Photoshop, one of the easiest things to do is to select an image and cut it from the background. But some people might not know how to do that, so here are some cool video tutorials on how to do it.

That are many ways to do that, from using the lasso tool, to the extraction point, but my favorite by far is using the pen tool, which gives you total control of that process. I hope these are useful to you. ;)

Very simple tutorials but when it comes to beginers these can be very useful. Also my favs are the pen tool and when it comes to hair I use the extract.

Could you write a tutorial about making the "abduzeedo" text on your site banner? It looks so cool :D.

Thank you very much!

Having perfected my pen skills with countless illustrator tracings, there is no other way to cut out for me!

One suggestion I'd make is that, once the selection has been made by whichever technique one chooses, instead of deleting the background, apply a Layer Mask. That way if you need to finesse the image later, you can simply change the layer mask rather than destructively editing the image.

Thanks for the tut links - very handy for teaching the basics to folks!
