Fun Cartoon Illustrations by Juan Molinet

October 08, 2009 from amanda's blog

Juan is an illustrator, graphic designer, and art director based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I keep coming across his work everywhere. First I stumbled across an illustration of his on ffffound a week or two ago, then last night I stumbled across his portfolio on behance. I am in love with his style! I gave in and decided to share some of his fun pieces with you today!

Juan's illustrations are colorful and his use of texture is really nice. Most of all though, I think the one thing that pleases me the most about his work is its playfulness. Each little monster that he creates is as cute and cuddly as the next! Don't forget to give his flickr and behance a peek to see what else he's getting up to! And let me know what you think via twitter or facebook :)

Very Easy Heroes Eclipse in Photoshop
The new season of Heroes is on and it's really good. While I was watching the last episode I saw the opening credits and I thought to myself, why I haven't done that effect yet. So I decided to create the Heroes eclipse effect in Photoshop with a litle extra retro style. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create a nice eclipse effect using only Photoshop. We will add a texture in the end just to give that retro feel to the image.

The book suggestion of this week is about branding and it's a recommendation from one of our favorite graphic designers out there, Roger Oddone. The book is called Designing Brand Identity: An Essential Guide for the Whole Branding Team and it covers everything you need to know about branding, from its definition to how come up with the most efficient strategy.
