Great Band Illustrations

August 18, 2010 from PauloGabriel's blog

I find really nice when bands get illustrated. I remember the music video of "Love Rollercoaster" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers... it was a fun video. But also, there's a more serious, less cartoonish approach.

Tamas Gaspar has done some great illustrations for the band Rackajam. These are probably the members of the band, and I can imagine how thrilled they were when they first put their eyes on these. Awesome style! Well, for more of Gaspar's works you may visit his portfolio at DeviantART. I hope you enjoy these. Cheers! ;)

Cool Typography with the Blend Tool in Illustrator
I have written some Illustrator tutorials in which I've used the Blend Tool to create swirls and other shapes, but I have never used it to create a text effect. Then we received this email suggestion from one of our readers quite a few months ago asking us how to create that effect. I really like the text effect and decided to give it a try.

Book Suggestion: Typology - Type Design From Victorian Era to the Digital Age
The book suggestion of the week is one of my favorites, it's called Typology: Type Design From Victorian Era to the Digital Age and it covers a lot of art history always linking with types and typography. It's a must read for those starting out their careers or even willing to dust off their typology and typography skills. About the book
