Illustrations by Twistedfork aka Dan Matutina

June 22, 2011 from nathanbweller's blog

Twisted Fork aka Dan Matutina is a designer and illustrator based out of the Philippines. I really like his portfolio and it looks like a lot of other people do too since he's had some really big clients: Popular Mechanics, Wired (Italy), CondeNast, Google (Southeast Asia), Pictory, The Few Gallery, BBDO Guerrero, DDB, Publicis Manila, Rogue Magazine, Friday Night Fist Fight, McDonald's, Bayantel, Nestle, Coca-Cola Foundation, Inc.

According to Dan himself his style "is a mix of handmade & digital, clean & dirty, old & modern aesthetics. I love mixing colors with different textures & shapes to tell a story."

Enjoy :D

Surprise behind the curtain in Photoshop
Surprise behind the curtain in Photoshop
In this tutorial I will show how to create curtains and other nice effects in Photoshop. When I was traveling I was always thinking about some ideas for wallpapers for Abduzeedo. Concepts that would show what the blog is about and of course, related to the Space subject. That was when I had this idea of an alien behind curtains. Anyway, for this tutorial we will use some images from iStockphoto and Google Images, and as usual some neat lighting effects. You probably know how to create some of the effects but it's a good exercise on how to turn an idea into an image.
