Logo Design A to Z - R

January 07, 2010

Some time ago we began a series of posts on logo design. Our goal? To cover as many logos as we can until the end of the year... we started with logos starting with A, today is all about R's. We've been seeing some great logos, and we wish to have you guys along with us on this design journey.

We'll always be searching for logos in these galleries: Logopond, Logo Faves, Logo Moose, Logo from Dreams, Logo Gala, WS Logos, The Logo Mix and Wolda. If you know any more galleries or logos, or even if you own one and wanna be listed here as a source for our series, please drop us a link! We'd love to hear from you. We hope you all enjoy our selection of R logos! Cheers. ;)

An excellent collection of bite-sized logos that stick in the mind like glue. Where did you get all of these?

Another great logo post, the examples above seem to have concentrated on the imagery as well as the type.

Well produced set of logotypes/marks/symbols overall. Notable and sensible use of typography.

Interesting and challeging balance between type&image that intrigues my eye. There is most of the time a focal point and a tastefull strategy and style when leaving a mark/impression in the viewer's memory.

Certainly, some of them can be improved for more inventiveness and fluorish of thought, this can result in a tangible impact over the viewers opinion and ability to remember the message being communicated. Simplification in the "rocket coffee" is needed, if it takes quite some time for a graphic designer to see the coffee mug and "decipher" the mimicking of a postal stamp being portrayed, imagine a housewife, or a plumber trying to understand what the business is and what the intent of the piece itself?

The Bottom line is to siimplify it by tonning down some grays, or maybe deleting some of the shapes between the frame and the rocket/mug, the outer shape of the mark is a bit too overpowering, it takes away my attention from the type. The stars and moon seem too be ornamental, too much deatail, and at the end, do they really need to be there? Answering what the focal point is and heavily concetrateing on it will solve this graphic puzzle. Some of the elements are not esential and are not actors or actresses in this play, therefore they must be fired. NOW!

The fifth one, top to bottom (all b&w); I can't even read what it says, perhaps is not necesary, i am not debating that but i really dont believe this one is a bullet proof logotype. I dont get the message that it's pretending to convey, and it just feels and looks a bit too common and ordinary. It does not stand on its own. Does it need to have that strong sense of a triangular shape?, better solutions than a hard geometric structure exist and can be more resourcefull, more exploration is needed.

My favorite is the ricochet logo, although I can't help but think the majority of these aren't for real companies.

Andy Menting De Alba01/11/2010

...very much welcomed opinion.

Our diverse opinions make this logo meal more nutritios.
And that is the real aim.

Looking forward to exchange more information on Logo Design.
