Museum Anatomy by Chadwick & Spector

March 11, 2011 from marcos333's blog

Classic art seems to be a bit forgotten nowadays, after the discovery of photoshop and other softwares, art seems to be more on the computer than in a canvas. For my surprise, Fábio introduced me this recent project that try to recreate some classic paintings on the human body, the results are quite exquisite and beautiful.

If you want know more about this project, please access the official website.

Museum Anatomy is a collection of documentary photographs of works from museums around the world that have been recreated onto the human body. The artwork goes through a significant process until reaching the final outcome, a photograph of Chadwick, sometimes unrecognizable as a human form, with an elaborate, detailed painting covering a portion of his body. The recreated paintings of these historic portraits recapture the subjects in their own moment in history. The resulting photographs reveal a unification of art combining antiquity, history and technology in a contemporary context. (Chadwick & Spector Website)

Last year I wrote a tutorial showing how to create clouds using Adobe Photoshop. However, I have received quite a few emails asking me how to create a text made with clouds. Because of that I decided to write a very quick tutorial showing how to do it. Following our Quick Tips series, in this tutorial I will show you how to create a text with clouds, using brushes and other few interesting light effects.

The wallpaper of this week is an image I did while I was learning how to create an 80's style effect in Photoshop and in Pixelmator. This image I selected was done entirely in Photoshop and it was inspired by the work of Empireisok. Desktop Version

Book Suggestion: Typology - Type Design From Victorian Era to the Digital Age
The book suggestion of the week is one of my favorites, it's called Typology: Type Design From Victorian Era to the Digital Age and it covers a lot of art history always linking with types and typography. It's a must read for those starting out their careers or even willing to dust off their typology and typography skills. About the book
