Outstanding Nature Photography by Steve Carter

December 05, 2008 from PauloGabriel's blog

I just love how some photographers tend to become experts in certain themes. There are those who love urban shots, there are those who love fashion shots, those how love people shots... and there are those who simple love taking pictures of nature.

Steve Carter is one of those people... he's got a great selection of pictures in his portfolio... enough to get anyone breathless. Check these out, and please, visit his site. It's really worth the visit. Enjoy and cheers! ;)

Surprise behind the curtain in Photoshop
Surprise behind the curtain in Photoshop
In this tutorial I will show how to create curtains and other nice effects in Photoshop. When I was traveling I was always thinking about some ideas for wallpapers for Abduzeedo. Concepts that would show what the blog is about and of course, related to the Space subject. That was when I had this idea of an alien behind curtains. Anyway, for this tutorial we will use some images from iStockphoto and Google Images, and as usual some neat lighting effects. You probably know how to create some of the effects but it's a good exercise on how to turn an idea into an image.

Book Suggestion - Poke the Box
The book of this week is Poke the Box. Written by Seth Godin, Poke the Box is very inspiring and motivating about initiating and shipping. It makes you think about so many things and makes you want to make things happen. If you're stuck at the starting line, you don't need more time or permission. You don’t need to wait for a boss’s okay or to be told to push the button; you just need to poke.
